I was joking about the MOPPs.
My Dad was buried there in 2005. Veteran of WWll, Korea, 2 tours in Vietnam. Master Sergeant, Army. The 21 gun salute and taps will break you down.
My father rests at Arlington also now some 55 years. I still miss him.
I just went back and read some of the comments at the DailyMail, and one of the post said, "One soldier is required to keep his nose uncovered so he can warn the others if there gas."
That's a new one on me. Interesting theory.
You may purchase those Military Coffins from most Mortuary’s, you have your choice of Emblems depending on the Branch of Service. They can be removed and given to the Family Members, Pricie but worth it for the Famlies
A WWII vet neighbor passed away when I was away in February. His services have been postponed until the pandemic passes. This funeral was most likely scheduled before the lockdowns. Typically there’s a several month delay between death and Arlington burial. Also, IIRC there aren’t any in-ground burials between December and April.
They say that a bit of shaving cream on the lenses alleviates fogging.
I can believe something like that is possible - spent 24 years in AF uniform and another 15 with AF and never heard it but there are some “He drew the short straw” deals that pop up from time to time...but these days, they have devices to detect/warn of gas/nerve agent and other such things w/o relying on someone to play “canary in the mine” for the rest...
That’s OK - but thanks...when I snorkeled, we spit in the mask to create a fog-free coating....probably won’t try it with my glasses/sunglasses though...they probably sell a product for glasses to do that...something akin to Rain-X maybe.
Not true. The original poster should have used /s.
And none of them were wearing protective (gas) masks which defeats the purpose of a person shouting “gas” and everybody putting on their protective masks.
As I said before - his probably slipped and he readjusted it as quickly and discreetly as he could.
MOPP 1 is better - MOPP 4 sucks.
