The Baltimore City Council pressed the mayor Monday to require all residents to wear a face covering when they go out in public to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The council unanimously passed a resolution calling for Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young to issue an executive order mandating everyone in the city wear either a mask or another kind of facial covering when they leave their homes.
Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks recently signed an order requiring everyone shopping in county grocery stores or other large shops to wear masks. The measure also applies to riders on the county bus system. Officials in Montgomery County and Washington, D.C., issued similar orders.
City Council President Brandon Scott, who introduced the resolution, said Baltimore needs to follow suit. He and the council also are urging the mayor to issue an executive order requiring that all businesses implement “social distancing” measures and limit the number of customers inside at one time.

Answer me this: Why are cloth and paper bags ‘germ carriers’ and cannot be used in markets, but cloth and paper masks are good? Are they to be new every day or re-used? The paper ones are good for one day, in construction. How long can they be re-used before they are germ-carriers and do more harm than good? Can they be sterilized? washed? How about the cloth ones? Are people washing them every day? If not, doesn’t your warm, damp breath let the germs they have collected grow in perfect conditions?
Makes no sense to me. Here in Los Angeles: Last week’s walkers were 75% wearing masks; this week’s walkers were 19:1 NO masks. hmm. The People have spoken.
I’m sort of getting to like the mask idea given some of the snaggle toothed hags one runs into on an average day. The Arabs may have stumbled into something here.
Maryland is publishing Wuhan virus case number and deaths by zip code. My zip code and all adjoining zip codes - zero. Baltimore City. PG County, and Montgomery County - far from zero. The council is protecting its constituency that tends to hang out on corners.

I have to be honest. I’ve been around three boroughs and I’ve gone in and out of many stores and I’ve not had any issues nor have I had a problem with the police or anyone else. It’s really not been strict here. there were seven people on the front porch on the house next to me the other day. I don’t know if it was right or wrong to do but no one bothered them.
New York City has not really been enforcing the laws. Not even speeding really
