He can’t hold a candle to the original “Jesus”, Ian Gillan. Gillan didn’t appear in the film, but sang on the original Soundtrack album.
IMO, Ian Gillan is one of the best male vocalists of all time. John Legend...Not so much.
I just wish Legend and his ugly, equally obnoxious wife would just go away.

Yeah the movie guy (Ted Neely) could NOT do that rock screaming that Gillian invented. I must have listened to the Broadway Soundtrack 1,000 times over the last 40+ years.
Now the movie Judas (Carl Anderson, who died in his 50s), was a tiny bit better than the Soundtrack Judas (Murray Head). I cannot remember the one from the TV stage production at all.
And legend was just NOT GOOD. Boring as heck and not even in key all the time.
Exactly. We should all be very careful to believe anything that the media is putting out. They will not fact check if their narrative is satisfied. And once it’s been established as true by the media, then all other sources run with it as if it were fact...like whomever this John Legend guy is, connecting the story that is likely false, to religion, which it isn’t either.
