Every state, every county, every Health Board, every health network, and every hospital is doing worst-case disaster scenario planning. They are all asking the same question — how do we allocate scarce resources?
It is silly to think people are not asking this question. It’s equally silly to think that, when push comes to shove, that younger people would be prioritized behind older people.
I’m in the old people category and, if it comes to it, I want my kids to live long healthy lives.
There are a lot of us oldsters and near-oldsters here on FR. I doubt a single one of us would please “Save me...don’t give that ventilator to my son or daughter.”
Your state tax dollars NOT at work.
YUP, that is the way the liberals plan it all along. Get all we old people dead and gone and off the government payroll (medicare, medicaid, disabilities, etc) Yup, kill us off and move to that tax paying younger generation, not all of us who paid ours for 40-50 years and are now collecting it. Kill us off and move on. ONLY OLD LIBERALS will be allowed to live as long as they have important liberal jobs.
You have to admit this will be a positive for SocSec and Medicare budgets....
Yeah, wants to be prepared to murder old folks.
We have our second case of Wuhan flu in our Oregon coast town. An EMT, tested positive today, who had made an ambulance run during the tourist inundation from Washington and Portland of last weekend.
That’s the second health care person testing positive after the tourists left. Health care workers who were in contact with them are now in quarantine also.
Oregon is the eighth worst state in the union for hospital beds per capita.
I expect Oregon will follow Washington’s lead in letting people die.
Plus every high school and college gym/auditorium/fieldhouse/indoor practice building is currently available.
What budget? They are so far in the hole for these benefits for we old folks are rarely spoken about. The $25.5 trillion in the hole we are now doesn’t count SS and medicare. I’ve read those are like $200-250 trillion that is not kept up with, that it comes out of the regular budget.
You know it’s all for show.
Maximize the screaming and wailing, blame it all on BAD ORANGE MAN who didn’t:
- Close the border fast enough (but it’s waciss to do that! Waaaaa!)
- Send out enough $$$ to keep us happy (Waaaa! Again)
- Send out enough masks even though they’re made overseas these days (Waaaa! Again and Again)
It goes on and on. Kathy Griffin syndrome...
Exactly.
Maybe Corona (if it gets bad enough) pays for the stimulus?
Drama crap on theoretical worst case scenarios.
Why would Bernie supporters think twice about single-payer. They will love the idea of killing off the old people, the old people they believe stand in their way of a new Socialist Utopia.
Did you forget the part where all non emergency surgeries and office visit are canceled a month out?
All our hospitals in Oregon are that way too. No visitors are allowed. Doors are locked at some locations.
The progressives crave the demise of elderly Americans
This is where groupthink will kill an individual.
You’re old, we won’t help you.
You’re a disposable man, we won’t help you. You are expected to die for all of us anyway, stop complaining.
Take the vaccine that might damage or kill you, we’re more worried about us living than you.
Take “x” at gunpoint by govt order or we’ll kill you.
And you have no legal recourse against government or the companies if you’re permanently injured or dead, we’ve protected them.
When Boeing shuts down production, what they have is hangars full of partially completed aircraft, not empty hangars.
