Liberty University responds to Gov. Northam
WDBJ TV ^ | March 25, 2020 | Eric Miller

LYNCHBURG, Va (WDBJ7)-- Liberty University released a statement after Governor Ralph Northam urged the university to uphold rules about social-distancing and public gatherings.

During the Governor’s address he quoted scripture saying “It is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” He then encouraged the university to provide clear and consistent guidance and respecting its duty to its students, staff, the Lynchburg community and the commonwealth.

Liberty responded saying it has been tirelessly working to protect its students the last couple of weeks.

“We really think it's un-Christian to turn students away and push any problems off on someone else. Most of our residential campus students are not in the Lynchburg area. Only about 10 percent of our residential students are currently here on campus,” a press release said.

The university continued saying students are not in classrooms, not in fitness centers, not engaging in sports and are getting their food through take-out at the dining halls. Touchpoints on campus are also being sanitized several times a day.

Liberty said the Central Virginia Health District visited campus Tuesday, March 24 and did not find any violations.

You can read the full statement here.

I am sure that VA Governor and the mayor want to shut the place down if they could...I guess they do not have any legal grounds at this time...

Why is the Governor worried? Can’t he just extend the dates and call it an abortion?

Liberty University is just doing what is right.

Everyone should, in this difficult time.

Perhaps the Governors are, too, but this is showing their inadequacy.

If they can keep the kids safe it may be safer to keep them there than send them home to infect their parents. Cuomo is a doofus but even a blind pig turns up a truffle...

Heard Falwell on the radio the other day. He said most of the remaining students on campus are foreign students who can’t travel home and have nowhere else to go.

It is a shame that Gov. Coonman isn’t as concerned about the safety of babies in their mother’s womb as he seems to be about the students at Liberty University.

But the Brown Shirt Media will lie about it. “When this is over there is going to be a reckoning.”

I wonder if he gave the address dressed in Klan robes...

I thought about that too...

Governor quoted Bible to criticize what Liberty University was doing...But, he does not care about Bible quotes which could be used in arguments against abortion...

Next, the governor will order the state police and national guard to burn the college to the ground and kill everyone inside, in order to protect them.

I don’t see why, in principle, kids living in their on-campus housing are any more at risk than people living in apartment complexes in big cities.

They just have to trust the kids not to congregate much — and i bet this group of kids are more likely to comply than most.

If Northam and all of the Chicken Littles out there are right, then the Christians of Liberty U will get sick and die and Northam will be happy as a lark about it. Or does Northam know that won’t happen?

Having been a “YANKEE” living in Lynchburg and being familiar with Baptist religion there, an intelligent response was not expected!
