Posted on 03/24/2020 9:10:08 AM PDT by jazusamo
Believe me, these ten minutes are worth your time. Here's Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) absolutely ripping House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democrats for sneaking in a laundry list of progressive, environmental provisions into the CARES Act, the third phase of Congress's coronavirus response intended to provide aid, relief, and economic security for individuals and businesses during this unpredictable era.
Barrasso kicked off his remarks by condemning "the demands by the Democrats to muck up a bill that is designed as a rescue operation for the American people."
He next identified the culprit.
"Nancy Pelosi flew back from California to throw a monkey wrench into the works," he said.
Included in Pelosi's extremist wish list is cash credit for solar panels, wind turbines, and other items that would make Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) proud.
"We're here trying to fight for the man and woman in the street in our hometowns and yet they're fighting for the Green New Deal," Barrasso said, striking the podium while he spoke.
The Democrats' offering also included collective bargaining and election reform.
"Where does that fit in to a bill to rescue the American people who right now find themselves in the throes of a disease that may kill them and an economy that may be shut down?" Barrasso said. "That's why the Democrats aren't on this floor because what they are doing cannot be defended."
Some of these topics are worthy of debate, the senator noted. But that litigation should be saved for another day. There are people who need the help now. Patients who need respirators, health care workers who need more resources, small business owners who don't know how they're going to make payroll.
The Democrats haven't just voted down the bill, they voted down the motion to proceed on the bill. That's why GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy doesn't give Democrats the benefit of the doubt.
The partisanship on Capitol Hill has unleashed the temper of lawmakers we typically never see lose their cool. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) got visibly red in the face after the Democrats voted down cloture for the first time. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) called her colleagues' action "unbelievable." The only other time Sen. Collins has gotten so irate was when she was ruthlessly accosted by liberals for voting for then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
President Trump implored Congress to stop bickering and act.
Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!
The Democrat COVID Bill Scam Exposed by Oklahoma Senator James Lankford
Thanks for the post.
Extreme vote fraud enablement. Union and/or government control of businesses. Reenabling Obamacare. They must have had this 1400 pages waiting for a crisis to reenact the Communist revolution in Russia.
This needs to be stopped.
First it was Impeachment, now this. The GOP needs to go full beast mode on TV Ads to beat these bums. People hate this stuff.
If this bill passes in the Senate, Trump should have a public signing and invite Pelosi. With his pen in the air, he should turn to Pelosi and ask her, line item by line item, what each provision has to do with helping the American people to provide Coronavirus relief.
That could make such good press that I might even suggest that Mitch sneak it through just to embarrass Pelosi.
If this is the game these filthy rat bastards want to play, then everyone should return to work.
Tell them to take their power grab and shove it up their ass.
Give them NOTHING!
I want to know how much CRAP is still in TODAY’s bill!?!?
Or they new it was coming...
Tell everyone that Nurse Nancy just got back from a week in Hawaii and watch their shock. My daughter called panicked about losing her job and I told her Nancy just flew back from Hawaii and my daughter was mad.Nancy should have To go without pay this year and start delivering food to shut ins.
If this is the game these filthy rat bastards want to play, then everyone should return to work.
Which is why Trumps response was to explore relaxing restrictions.
WAKE UP, FOLKS!!
Nancy Pelosi coronavirus stimulus package ‘socialist wish list’ detailed by GOP - Washington Times
House Republicans on Monday night offered a detailed critique of what they called House Speaker Nancy Pelosis socialist wish list in House Democrats $2.5 trillion proposal for responding to the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaker Pelosi unveiled legislation aimed at exploiting the COVID-19 public health crisis by attempting to force the inclusion of a socialist wish list of policies that have nothing to do with the public health and economic emergency, said House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Louisiana Republican.
After poring over the 1,400-page proposal, Mr. Scalise offered his characterization of Republicans objections to the following items:
GOP details Pelosi’s $2.5 trillion ‘socialist wish list’ in coronavirus aid package
Under the heading of Union Giveaways:
Nullifies the White House executive orders on federal collective bargaining and codifies taxpayer-funded union official time.

Requires a labor union representative on every airlines board of directors.
Multiemployer pension bailout lacking needed reforms.
Permanently raises the minimum wage to $15 for any business that receives federal aid for COVID-19.
Cancels all debt owed by the U.S. Postal Service to the Treasury.
Under the heading Green New Deal priorities:
Requires all airlines that receive assistance to offset carbon emissions for domestic flights by 2025.
Includes a $1 billion cash for clunkers airplane program where the Transportation Department buys fuel-inefficient planes from airlines in exchange for agreeing to buy new ones.
Includes expansive new tax-credit for solar and wind energy.
Under Student Loan Forgiveness:
$10,000 blanket loan forgiveness.
Under Federalizing Elections:
Mandates how states must run elections, including the nationalization of ballot harvesting, requiring early voting, same day registration, and no-excuse vote by mail.
Puts states at risk of costly litigation if they are unable to implement these stringent mandates ahead of the 2020 election.
Under Immigration Provisions:
Requires the Homeland Security Department to automatically extend visas and work authorizations expiring within the next year, including those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and Temporary Protected Status, for an amount of time equal to their prior visa, authorization or status.
Limits Customs and Border Patrols ability to shutdown processing centers if there is a health crisis on the border and requires CBP to assure the timely adjudication of asylums applications.
Would allow certain funding to go to sanctuary cities.
Under Overreaching Mandates on Businesses:
Permanent changes to who can serve on corporate boards of directors for companies that receive assistance for payroll and operating costs.
Mandatory disclosure on supply chain management.
Requires board diversity disclosure for all publicly traded companies.
Ban on all federal rulemaking including non-COVID 19 proposals (extends 30 days after emergency) in an attempt to delay the current administration from promulgating actions House Democrats disagree with.
Under New Permanent Mandates:
Virtually rewrites the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program policy with no reference to COVID-19 and permanently disallows rulemaking pertaining to work requirements and eligibility.
Permanent expansion of Obamacare entitlement, putting the American taxpayer on the hook for endless and unchecked health insurance spending and would remove all incentives for insurers to reduce the cost of health insurance.
Mr. Scalise said the Democrats bill also excludes bipartisan health-care provision in the Senate bill, including a proposal to expand telehealth access for home dialysis patients, hospice and home health patients; and a measure to prevent a payment reduction for durable medical equipment to help patients better transition from the hospital to home.
Instead of working in a bipartisan, bicameral way to provide this immediate relief, the speaker has proposed legislation that includes highly partisan provisions while excluding key patient care provisions that would have a real impact on Americans affected by COVID-19, Mr. Scalise told his Republican colleagues.
The bill in the Senate right now is NOT Pelosi’s bill. It’s McConnell’s bill, that Mnuchin nego’d with Schumer on to get his agreement.
The Pelosi House bill probably just goes away if the Senate bill passes.
I envision a trap door thing. As she is smiling, sucking on her false teeth, it opens and she drops down a slide into a pile of horse sh^t.
Excellent point and I believe we'll soon see that real Americans won't. Only the socialist pigs and supporters of AOC, Omar and other commies are going to go for this.
Unfortunately the majority of people will not see any of this. They are too busy trying to fend for themselves and their families.
Will they wake up? Doubt it.
