Trump announces he took coronavirus test

President Trump announced he took the coronavirus test on Friday night and is awaiting results.

As the White House Coronavirus Task Force gave a press conference on Saturday, Trump told reporters that he decided to take the test in response to Friday's press conference where the president declared a state of national emergency.

"By the way, I had my temperature taken coming into the room," Trump prefaced his statement to reporters. "I also took the test last night. And I decided I should based on the press conference yesterday."

After declaring a national emergency to combat the pandemic on Friday, Trump was asked by a reporter if it was "selfish" not to be tested for the coronavirus, potentially putting others at the risk of infection."I didn't say I wasn't going to be tested," he said.

"Are you going to be?" a reporter asked.

"Most likely, yeah. Most likely. Not for that reason, but because I think I will do it anyway," the president said.

Asked when the test would happen, Trump said, "Fairly soon. We're working out a schedule."

Anyone know how accurate the test is? False positives and false negatives happen.

Depends on what test he uses:

Yes, there has been a test, but our old rules concerning any test approval by the Obama/Biden thugs have kept this test out of America.

Thanks to President Trump that is changing.

Shares of Swiss drug maker Roche rise after FDA approval for corona virus test!

The company says the tests are able to provide results in 3-½ hours.

This approval for Roche means millions of tests a month will be available to help boost capacity for diagnosis of the flu-like virus.

Shares of Swiss diagnostics and pharmaceutical giant Roche rose 3% Friday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued emergency authorization for their COVID-19 test.

These highly automated tests, which the company says are able to provide results in 3-½ hours, can be run on Roche’s fully-automated machines which are already installed in hospitals and laboratories across the U.S. and around the world.

Roche was the first company to supply tests to diagnose the coronavirus in China.

The drug giant was able to lean on its experience dealing with the SARS virus outbreak which also originated in China. Speaking to CNBC in January, CEO Severin Schwan said the company’s focus was to bring the necessary diagnostic platforms and test to the point of care.

Testing for the virus is one of the primary concerns in the United States at this stage. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of just over 11,000 specimens have been tested since January.

By contrast, a total of almost 30,000 people have been tested for the virus in the United Kingdom, while nearly 20,000 people are being tested for the virus everyday in South Korea.

This approval for Roche means millions of tests a month will be available to help boost capacity for diagnosis of the flu-like virus.

Beyond diagnostics, Roche has also been involved in the fight against coronavirus complications.

Earlier this month, China approved use of the Swiss drugmaker’s anti-inflammatory drug Actemra to treat patients with aggressive immune reactions to the virus.

“We believe the U.S. health care system is facing issues regarding testing for COVID- 19 and the case count of patients infected are drastically underestimated,” the Deutsche Bank health care team said in a research note.

Our local (Indianapolis) folks at Roche Diagnostics said this morning they shipped a half million test kits that take 3 hours to give a result.

Yes, there has been a test, but our old rules concerning any test approval by the Obama/Biden thugs have kept this test out of America.

Thanks to President Trump that has changed.

“Dr. Gregory Poland, a Mayo Clinic infectious diseases and vaccine specialist, says that the threat of the coronavirus is real, but the seasonal flu still remains a bigger issue for most people.

“Right now, seasonal flu is causing many more deaths than COVID-19, and the tragedy is that many people die because they consider it ‘just the flu,’” says Dr. Poland.”

After declaring a national emergency to combat the pandemic on Friday, Trump was asked by a reporter if it was "selfish" not to be tested for the coronavirus, potentially putting others at the risk of infection.

Trump should have asked the selfish reporter, why the reporter was sitting in the front row, if the reporter actually suspected the President of having the coronavirus.

You said ‘The President *is* fast approaching 80.”

No he isn’t. The President is 73.

Got math?

I have the same birthday he does but I’m 6 years older - so I’m 79. THAT is “approaching 80”.

See the difference?
