Yes RIP
Jobeson was the other member
And then King Crimson.
Must be nice to be in such demand.
I saw Zappa many years ago sometime in the seventies. Jean Luc Ponty and Zappa I think.. lol dont remember much, its like a dream.
I do recall nobody stayed still on that stage, lots of motion everybody was having a great time the band and the audience very engaged!
I know Phil’s son is going to be drumming on this upcoming tour, and I think it will be just him and not Chester.
As big of a fan as I am, I really don’t want to see this. Phil looked in real bad shape on his solo tour.
I suppose it’s a case of, if they don’t do it now, they won’t have another chance.
What I wouldn’t have given to see Zappa and JLP together. Actually I’ve been on a big JLP kick lately.
Hackett looks great, he hasn’t aged at all.
Saw Zappa in 77, Fantastic!
One pf the best shows of mylife.
That’s right. Saw them in ‘81 opening for Rush. Was too much for a 16 year old to take in, but what a show!
Thanks for the update. Since none of them are actually Frank, I don’t pay much attention to them.
Getting back to KC, look for this DVD: 21st Century Schzoid Band
No, it doesnt have Fripp but does have Ian McDonald and Giles on the drums plus a few other Crimson veterans so it doesnt disappoint by any means. Thats what I have on right now video is good by todays standards but the audio is right up there and the mix is excellent. Giles never sounded better and his drum cut through the mix, excellent performance and well rounded set to boot. Cat Food is on here! =^o^=
Honest to goodness, if any of them make it to Spain, I’d highly recommend seeing them. Dweezil and his band are exceptional and any Zappa project with Keneally and Travers in it is spot-on. I saw FZ 3x when he was alive; yes, they’re not Frank but if you close your eyes it’s almost like the real deal.
I saw FZ 4 times. We have a jazz festival every year that has some great acts (my favorite so far has been Stanley Clarke) but the rock acts head to larger cities. I’m still holding out hope that Walter Trout will play somewhere nearby but a tour that would need a venue big enough for a Zappa act would probably go to a place like Seville, Valencia, Barcelona or Madrid.
Does anyone know what’s happened to FReeper Dr. Bogus Pachysandra? He was friends with Frank Zappa and often offered personal insights on Frank topics.
His last post was in 2018.
Saw Zappa and the MoI in the early 80s in a small venue. I saw scores of big name concerts back in the day but that one stand out as THE best musically. I was blown away at the talent. And it was all instrumental. I don’t recall anyone even singing (not even Dynamo Hum!).
Dweezil did a GREAT job of keeping Frank's legacy alive, but there was SO MUCH MORE they could have do with merchandising, the web, Spotify, iTunes, etc. Gail's Insistence that only SHE allow people play Frank's music (and her decision not to let festivals etc happen) cut off the people wh coulda been fans from Frank's work
Again, Dweezil did a nice job of carrying the torch. The Hologram tour, contrary to public opinion, did NOT suck...it was actually well-played music.
The time is NOW through things like opening for KC to raise awareness; FZ's music is hard to get at fist, and usually it's the funny lyrics (and biting satire, i.e. "I will love everyone...I will love the cops as they beat the sh@@ out of me on the street...") that hook you...then when you're immersed you realize he wrote music for tomorrow.
There is a group of kids who are sick of pop, who are sick of the status quo...Frank has a audience that's waiting for his music. Hopefully, old geezers can bring kids to shows and get this party started. Start with things like showing them Dweezil playing Eruption.
Thank you for stating the facts about this guitarist. Living in L.A. I have been blessed to witness multiple, 15+ Live shows of the M. K. B. and I have never left a show unamazed at how EXCEPTIONAL he and his band are. Most people can't wrap their heads around it,( the poor peasants---LOL) I'm an exception, he's a damn Star Musician and highly underrated. Thx for saying so .
And Adrian could play with BOTH bands!
