The work crew had started ripping off the roof of Belinda Hungate's home in Spring Hill on February 20 when she was woken by the noise.
She then confronted the crew, but she said that they didn't speak English.

'They did not speak English. The sub-contractor is from Honduras. No business cards, no contractors license,' her husband Philip Hungate told DailyMail.com.
'My wife called me at work in a panic saying there were guys on the roof and they were tearing things off.'

About 30 years ago, I was listening to Bruce Williams, a financial guy on the radio. A guy called and said he’d inherited some land down south but hadn’t been on the property for several years. While there on a business trip, he stopped by as the builder was putting the finishing touches on the new home.
Only problem, he didn’t purchase a home. It was built on the wrong property.
Since he wanted to eventually build a house and didn’t want to trade property with the homeowner who didn’t have forest land and a stream, Williams suggested that he strike a can’t pass up deal with the builder, like materials only
This happened to a friend of mine. After the dust settled he wound up with a free new roof.

It would be nice to know English if you do business in the USA.
I remember that call distinctly. I really had hopes he would keep in touch with the guy and follow up... or have Paul Harvey tell ... the rest of the story.
It least it wasn’t cops ripping off the door and shooting her dog when they get the addresses wrong.
She’ll get free new roof and some boot money for her trouble.

The first thing you do is call the police. Tell them that someone is tearing up your property and that you are fearful of violence.
Meet the police and explain that you have not given anyone permission to be on your property let alone to tear your property up.
Insist on filing charges of trespassing and vandalism.
Let the police take it from there.
If that goes nowhere then fill a civil suit against the contractor and the general contractor.
Do not play nice with them.
That's very sweet of you to think so, but in the real world, the Honduran subcontractor will simply disappear, and the hired roofing company will have their attorneys delay and deflect liability to the subcontractor. The victim will get nothing, other than the expense of a new roof... possibly to be built by this who are not too distant from the wrong actors here (either related by blood or by incorporation).
The benefits for the consumer just keep piling up.
The both sound like betas. The woman couldn’t find a way to make them stop. The man said the contractor said he would put on a new roof to fix the damage, but he doesn’t get a say in the materials or anything.
Pussies. She needed a shotgun, and he should have never allowed the same contractor to do anything else to his house.
Something similar happened here a few years back. a crew started clearing land, cutting down trees and the like on the wrong lot, that had a house.
When confronted with the right address, they vamoosed..............
Seeing some of the shoddy work done by these “undocumented” workers, the roof they put on will most likely be a piece of junk. And what reputable roofer comes in without first making provision to dispose of the shingles/felt removed? Plus, the homeowner runs the risk of retaliation from these “workers/their employer” since they’ve complained. Who knows what else they’ll show up uninvited/without a contract to repair?
White GMC vans with extension ladders piled 5 and 6 high on the roof...and a wheelbarrow. Dozens of them. No Commercial license plate. No indication of any kind of the name of the company. No phone number. No bonded license number. And driven by South Americans. Most parked illegally overnight in various neighborhoods.
The police could get them on the lack of commercial plates alone. And state law says such a vehicle must have signage indicating the business name and a phone number. Yet, no one in the local constabulary sees fit to do anything.
