Romney Is Now a Bigger Conservative Villain Than Socialism
thedailybeast ^ | 02/28/2020 | Will Sommer

Republicans gathered at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday to cheer on their conservative heroes. But they also had an opportunity to shame GOP politicians they deemed not pro-Trump enough, casting ballots for the “phoniest ‘conservative’ lawmaker.”

Next to a stuffed donkey with a fake elephant’s snout, attendees voted for the likes of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who led the ballot count as of Thursday afternoon. One prominent GOP Trump critic wasn’t an option, though—because everybody already knew he’d win in a landslide.

Romney is a douchbag, but to compare him to socialism is just plain dumb.

Sometimes an honest enemy is preferable to a back stabber.

It is hard to see how Mitten’s political career could recover from the mess he made of it.

Rightly so.

A traitor is always more loathsome than the enemy you know.

Well, not really...

Put it in context:

Think of two giant turds in a toilet; which one is the bigger threat depends on which one actually clogs the bowl when you flush.

Either way, it’s crap...

Him and Bloomberg can team up to form a moderate liberal party once the Democrats implode...

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
Cicero

I hate to break this to this author, but Romney’s been a villain to conservatives for a long long long time.....

The fact folks thing Romney represents the conservative movement tells you how out of touch the entire political class is with the electorate.

It might be hereditary.

The complete quote

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear“
Cicero

Now that most of us are acutely aware of just what “Bain Capital” was Romney is pretty well done in the GOP. Thank God.

Romney is old school country club republican... which has been the problem with the GOP for decades... Trump has given the the elixir to win.... but I fear none will learn from it.

Not all socialists have killed anyone let alone vast numbers. So obviously I was saying Romney may be as bad as the run of the mill socialist who is simply a believer who ignores the realities you speak of. In that sense, he is probably as bad, but certainly not worse. Hope that clarifies my original statement. 8>)
