‘More than fishy’ Collins slams sudden cash surge for pro-Loeffler group

When the Georgia Life Alliance needed an emcee for its annual gala in October, the conservative anti-abortion group turned to one of its favorite politicians: U.S. Rep. Doug Collins.

A few weeks later, though, the alliance stunned the Republican congressman when it announced it would spend at least $3 million on an ad blitz to back U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler, the Republican incumbent whom Collins is challenging in November.

Collins questioned how a group that struggled to raise significant cash unveiled an expensive initiative to support Loeffler. “What I think is happening is they got a large infusion of cash from Kelly. They’ve hardly raised $50,000 and then they suddenly announce a $3 million ad buy?” he asked. “It’s more than fishy. They can deny it all they want. I guess they thought I’d be quiet and not say anything about it.”

Federal tax records show the organization has never amassed that kind of cash before.

The alliance raised about $80,000 in 2017 and ended the year with less than $10,000 in the bank. It didn’t have to file a detailed report in 2018 because it collected less than $50,000. The group hasn’t filed its 2019 report yet, though Edmonds said it raised nearly $250,000 last year.

Lucy, the Georgia Life Alliance has some splaining to do. Where did this sudden cash windfall originate?

McConnell and the NRSC should stay out of state primaries. And if he doesn't then his chosen candidate should be slimed by the fact the McConnell is trying to choose our senator.

Collins should shelve his ego and stop costing us a Senate Seat.

Loffler been 100% pro Trump.

Collins could do hero work cleaning up the Intelligence swamp. He has the qualification for it. We all ready have a perfectly fine US Senator.

Collins ego is running away with him and it is probably going to cost the GOP what should be a safe US Senate seat.

We are being treated to NONSTOP ads from this group touting Kelly’s support for pro-life bills that have already gone down in defeat. It’s beyond ridiculous.

Georgia has a bad habit of selecting RINO’s for Senate. Loeffler will turn on Trump as soon as she is elected. You just watch.

I don’t know about Collins.

But, I am butthurt by McConnell Machine getting involved in our elections. The NRSC did this in MS to keep Cochran in place long enough for McConnell to keep that globalist vote in place.

Sad to see that you are not. I guess after years of taking it makes the pain a little less?

"Collins should shelve his ego and stop costing us a Senate Seat."

I will take his ego over her buying a seat to oversee her husband's regulator.

This gives Kelly Loeffler a direct position in overseeing her and her husband’s financial enterprises,” said Craig Holman, a lobbyist for the nonprofit watchdog group Public Citizen. “I find it utterly irresponsible the Senate would choose to put Loeffler on that committee, given her conflicts of interest.”

Spot-light it, Doug!

Sure it hurts having the people you helped stab you in the back, but get that little Mitch connection out there and take this bad woman down..

Yeah!

Aren’t they supposed to be a nonpolitical nonprofit? An issues organization that presumably would have no justification for promoting her over Collins anyway?

Loffler been 100% pro Trump.

Yeah, for the past few months.

Before her appointment by Kemp, nobody heard of this wealthy, bored, middle-aged woman outside of the Junior League.

Collins is tried, trued, qualified and has a track record.

I am not so sure...I have not heard any of Loffler's advertisements mention the wall or immigration (illegal or otherwise).

The bottom line is that Loeffler is a Republican incumbent, and Collins isn’t likely to get us anything in the Senate that we wouldn’t already get with Loeffler. Your claim that Loeffler “will turn on Trump as soon as she is elected” is silly. For one thing, this is a special election for this seat, and it will be contested again in 2022. Secondly, I will take a track record over a prognostication any day of the week.

And he should be. Loeffler is a friggin’ RINO, with NO political record who bought her seat in the Senate whereas Collins is a known commodity.

The GOP establishment is alive and well.

Collins is giving up a powerful position as ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee to become the junior senator from Georgia. From a national perspective this looks like a net loss — and a baffling move — to me.

You know nothing about Georgia politics. Kelly Loeffler is bad news and is trying to buy this senate seat. Collins was the popular choice and Gov Kemp knew it.

Kemp guaranteed a half million dollar loan for a struggling agri business. Things went South and suddenly right after Loeffler got the appointment Perdue Agra bought the business and then sold it to another business owned by Loeffler’s husband. Then like magic as soon as Loeffler took her senate seat she got appointed to the Senate Agricultural Committee which oversees the agency that regulates her husband’s business. He owns the NYSE. So this is Blagojevich 2.0 the whole thing stinks to high heaven.

So stay in MN with the muslims and STFU about GA.

It also doesn’t help that Collins is pretty damn ugly.

Attractive he is not.

If I lived in Georgia I would vote for him in a heartbeat. However, I really do question whether he can win a statewide election in Georgia.

Collins is not the only one who is butthurt.

As of now, I’m voting for Loeffler.

Collins has a Casey Cagle stench to him....

and Kemp is doing just fine as Governor.
