They extrapolated from 5.
Warm and fuzzy math
Trump will be saying something nice about Yang in 3...2...
My guess is it would be cheaper to have a “basic income” that eliminates every other “safety net” and their bureaucracies than what we have now.
Voters are not transferable. There are some Bernie voters who will never vote for the other Dems. Some might say, Amy is great but if she doesn’t win they go to Trump...or Bernie. Everyone assumes if Warren is out they’ll go to Bernie but maybe they are only with Warren because she’s a woman...etc, etc
My son, a 23 year old Computer Scientist, is an example of someone who likes both Yang and Trump.
A significant number of people, especially young people, don’t have clear political ideology but understand that political “mainstream” is hopelessly corrupt. Whether the name is Clinton, Bush, Biden, Romney, or some new flavor of the day (Klobuchar), the result is going to be relatives getting named to boards of directors of companies we have never heard of in countries around the world, while US industries are gutted; Federal prosecutors and courts that destroy the lives of little people who can’t afford to go to trial, while declining prosecution of establishment figures who committed real crimes (Clinton, Clapper).
These voters are perceptive enough to see the only real hope is an outsider like Trump, Yang or Sanders. They don’t yet perceive the danger of electing a Socialist like Yang or Sanders.
He was nerdy and likable. But I can’t understand how a supposedly intelligent person believes handing out $1000 to everyone each month would be a good and sustainable thing.
I wonder what would happen to the cost of things when companies and businesses realize that every single consumer has a guaranteed extra $1000 each month in their pocket.
Prices would initially go up but competition would stabilize them then they would drop.
I am not saying I am for basic universal income, but it would be worth looking at if it totally eliminated welfare, food stamps other social service and their bureaucracies.
Iteresting .. Surprising...where did they find 200 Yang supporters?
And then the next year that $1000 “needs” to be $1100, then $1200, and so on. Just handing people money from the Treasury doesn’t work. And if you think it would eliminate other social services, you’re wrong. The end goal for the left is to make people dependent on government.
