I was on an Air Guard convoy in Michigan just after the Kent State riot. When the hippies would pass us, they would flash us the ‘peace’ sign (and sometimes a middle finger) and I would respond with a ‘4-0’ hand signal. When we were stopped at a rest area, a couple of long-haired freaks came up to us and asked what ‘4-0’ meant. When I said ‘National Guard 4, Kent State 0’, I thought they were going to have a meltdown. It took me at least 5 minutes to stop laughing. I didn’t have to buy any beer when we got to our deployment area that night.
If I'm not mistaken the sequence of events was:
throwing beer bottles at police
breaking windows in storefronts
setting a fire in the middle of the street
threatening to destroy the city and the university
threatening to burn down any business that didn't display antiwar slogans
they set the ROTC building on fire
constantly throwing rocks and spent tear gas canisters at the guardsmen
as the audio proved later, the protesters fired the first shot

And for all of that we're supposed to be mad at the guardsmen for putting a stop to their violence?
According to Post 51 you are not correct. The POLICE PHOTOGRAPHER fired a warning shot. And one shooter means you open fire on the kids who WEREN’T ARMED?

One of the nastiest tricks the Rats ever did was to foist Vietnam on Nixon, it’s as if LBJ had nothing to do with it.
A belated assertion after all these decades which admits that well, okay, shots did come from the crowd changes things not at all.
It was not admitted for decades that any shots were fired by anyone other than the national guard.
That it was supposedly a photographer contracted by the police does not in anyway put any onus on the guardsmen who weren't informed about his presence until audio forensics brought this out a few years ago.
Now, you have expressed your belief that all military is guilty of trying to kill all college students all the time and I understand that you were successfully indoctrinated to believe that, but your belief is based on lies and your hatred isn't different in any way than Colin Kaepernick’s.
In fact, the two of you have chosen the same target for your loathsome rage.
I’d call you clueless but that would be unfair to people who are clueless. You fail to reach that level. Yep, somehow there is a class of sub-clueless and you are on their Mount Rushmore.
ONE LAST TIME: Where’s your source? Otherwise, get lost and take your pseudo-psycho hatred and live with it alone.

ALL Military? Thankfully the vast majority of our military is far above shooting unarmed students. Did you defend the My Lai massacre too?

Call up your alumni association and tell them why you won’t be making a donation & do the same to the Kent State Prez’s office.
Hi Reily.. I haven’t made on donation yet over the decades so that ‘threat’ would be empty. No doubt the ones with money that donate are so excited to have Hanoi Jane
I am sure there are other people calling expressing their displeasure. So you would be one more voice in both cases, it does have an accumulative effect. Regarding your alumni association, its still possible you might give them money!
Again don’t assume you are the only one calling.
