Facebook and Twitter have rejected a request by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to remove a video posted by President Trump that was edited to make it appear as though she were ripping a copy of his State of the Union address as he honored a Tuskegee airman and other guests.
The decision highlighted the tension between critics who want social media platforms to crack down on the spread of misinformation and others who argue that political speech should be given wide latitude, even if its deceptive or false.
The debate has accelerated during the 2020 presidential campaign, as Democrats in Congress have demanded that Facebook and other tech companies take tougher action, while figures on the right have fought back, arguing that such policing could muzzle conservative viewpoints.

Should have added this:
If Nancy Pelosi fears images of her ripping up the speech, perhaps she shouldnt have ripped up the speech, Tim Murtaugh, a Trump campaign spokesman, said on Saturday.
She thought that no one would criticize her actions or be allowed to?
Bea hahahahaha.
The Party that had Paul Ryan pushing granny over a cliff in a wheelchair is upset about an ad about something that actually happened...
Pelosi and the people who vote for her are all your enemy, folks. We can no longer hope that somehow we will live in harmony with leftists who hope for the demise of this country just so they can gain powerful positions.
JoMa
Ok, PDJT can’t post the video, but it was fine for her to tear the transcript on live tv in front of millions of people watching the SOTU? It’s beyond time for a family intervention.
Put a copy of the Constitution and a flag in that wheel chair and it isn’t so far off the mark. :)
Perfect. Mentally filed to be used at every opportunity.
Wheres the video?

“edited to make it appear as though she were ripping a copy of his State of the Union address”
She’s bragged openly, several times, about ripping that document, but this is the New York Times, so it’s insinuated that Trump distorted the facts to make it appear so.
Maybe if she didnt tear up the speech, she wouldn’t be having this problem.
Anyone with a brain knows it’s a “put together” video meant to show that her ripping those pages was a slap to the various participants.
Anyone with a brain . . .
I can see why she wants to stop that ad...it’s extremely effective.
Like i said on another similar thread ...that is what is known as comeuppance nan poo.
Wonder if it’s sinking in to you why you respect the office of the President.
and why you follow protocol like properly introducing the President?
I doubt it.
Wow ! That ad is fantastic!
It is running on twitter and on facebook?
Somehow it should be shortened some and run on TV too - am sure it will be later in the year.
But.....I thought she was PROUD of her actions.
Correctly viewed as an editorial, the video is absolutely true. I’m happy that Pelosi wanted it removed and thrilled that she was rejected.
