Mitt Romney 'formally not invited' to CPAC after impeachment vote on witnesses

The chairman of CPAC announced that Utah Sen. Mitt Romney is "formally not invited" to the conservative group's annual conference this year.

Matt Schlapp, the head of the American Conservative Union, said Romney is not allowed at the event after the Utah Republican voted in favor of summoning witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. Romney was one of two Republicans who joined 47 Democrats in supporting the motion, which failed to pass on Friday.

"BREAKING: The 'extreme conservative' and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020," Schlapp wrote in a tweet, which featured a photo of a troubled-looking Romney.

— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) January 31, 2020 It is unclear whether Romney was expecting to attend this year's CPAC next month.

Romney recently slammed Trump's critical statements about former national security adviser John Bolton, whom Democratic House impeachment managers have fought to have as a witness. Bolton announced earlier this month he would testify if subpoenaed, and excerpts of his unpublished book have leaked to the press in recent days containing allegations of Trump pressuring Ukraine to help collect information on his political rivals.

“He has made a career of trashing people by tweet,” Romney told the New York Times. “It is part of his shtick, and it’s working for him."

This CPAC news comes after Utah state Republican Rep. Tim Quinn introduced a bill that would allow voters to recall a sitting U.S. senator. Quinn, 56, claimed the bill was unrelated to Romney but said it was a “good mechanism in place to make any senator, current or future, a little more accountable to those who elected him...

He had a career long before Twitter, you self-absorbed quisling.

Yeah, it always cracked me up how Karl Rove was always touted as some kind of genius on the TV news channels. For what?! He orchestrated two squeakers against two of the lamest idiots in the history of US general election. Sure, buddy, hang your hat on that when it’s all you got! Freakin’ kills me. I guarantee that his books are doing nothing but taking up space and gathering dust on the bookshelves of morons. That is except for the super-majority that are being used as ship ballast. When the power goes out, they should be the first thing to be used to start a fire in the fireplace.

Make him live in San Francisco and yank his temple-recommend, that’ll drive him right out of his little mormon mind.

"Romney is eying a 2024 run for the white house"

He must be looking for a job sweeping the floors, that's all he's gonna get in there.

I can find no evidence that the media covered this at all. Epochtimes can be a fake news source.

That’s a shame. Now they can’t have the opportunity to boo him of the stage.

He’d be better off eyeing his imaginary planet.

He might be going there before 2024.

No, no, no.. Let's not sweep this over to democrats. Mitt Romney, before the trial, wanted Bolton to appear as a witness. This was before someone *leaked” to the Times.

Mitt was insistent that Bolton be called and shock among shocks, whatcha know? Bolton's upcoming book has apparently the missing evidence in it, right after it appeared that the President's legal team utterly dismantled the case and he in speaking to others didn't find enough support to call Bolton.

Feel free to check articles from mid January where Romney was again pushing Bolton. This was planned and pretty poorly executed, hallmarks of Romney.

Romney is eying a 2024 run for the white house

Why would anyone in their right mind believe he wanted to be President after he blew Oba, er blew the election to Obama and his son gave an interview stating his dad never really wanted to be President? Romney and his weasel Ryan did everything they could to throw that race, I mean how could anyone, anyone so badly lose a debate to that jackass Biden unless it was intentional?
