Alan Dershowitz quits Donald Trump's impeachment trial after saying the president CANNOT be removed for a quid pro quo to aid his re-election then claims the defense 'begged him to stay'

Donald Trump's most famous and flamboyant lawyer vanished from his trial Thursday - turning up in Miami to fight back against a tidal wave of criticism for his extraordinary defense that anything a president does to get re-elected is unimpeachable.

The Harvard professor surfaced in Florida as other academics and attorneys reacted with astonishment to his position, which he then said he had never actually said.

On CNN he told Wolf Blitzer that he had a commitment in the state Thursday and it was difficult to change his flight because the Super Bowl is on this weekend in Miami.

He also complained about how CNN had reported what he said, prompting Blitzer to say: 'We were playing what you said.'

But his main thrust was a rearguard action against a legal theory which Trump's own defense spent time walking away from Thursday.

I knew something was amiss when Philman said the word RADICAL. At the time I said I wish he hadnt said that because Schiff would pounce on it. And he did.

Now we know why

He didn’t quit. He had no role to fulfill. We know he was only there “part time” and there is notice of the same someplace.

The extraordinary games people play with something as momentous as an impeachment trial of the President of the United States in the United States Senate.

What in the world is more important?

Still don’t know why Trump named liberal Den narcissist Dershowitz to his defense team. He is an overrated legend in his own mind publicity seeking law professor who will turn on Trump in a minute, a John Bolton of the legal profession

I was set back when he made that argument but the more I thought about it the more sense it makes and I realized that people running for office and even sitting presidents have all done this. Do something for me and I will do something for you.... even though Trump said do something of US. Does US stand of the United States or We the People of the United States....

Did you watch it last night/

CLEARLY something was going on when Philbin called Alan’s ideas radical.

Schiff pounced and made the comment that Trump’s team seemed to be distancing themselves.

He was fired or quit.

I suspect Trump wasn’t happy with the way his Radical ideas were getting trounced and sidelined him to some extent..which then led him to quit.

Gee, you would think he would have access to a private jet to get to the big game.

This is another example of the media not even able to understand a moderately complex argument. Dersh should tell these lightweights if they somehow got into Harvard and became one of his students they’d fail his class.

The headline is totally bogus. The media wanted to plant the idea that he was self serving and didn’t believe what he said, but all he actually said wast that he had a prior committment in Miami and couldn’t change his airline reservations (which is certainly understandable). I have heard him speak since then and he has not backed off of his comments in any way. MSM BS again.

There was no quid pro quo. The GOP never should have had this trial in the Senate if they weren’t going to go after Joe Biden and the people behind Spygate.

Alan is rushing home to put the final touches on his new book.

Once again he kept his underwear on while having his ego massaged. /s

This is the convenient excuse to save face.

Something went on.

It can’t be any more clear than when you saw Philbin distance himself from Alan’s more “radical” ideas.

At the time I said right here I wish he wouldn’t have said that..

Something definitely went on.

I wonder what kind of threats he received ... Kudos for Dershowitz for his courage to say what he thinks (about impeachment) in the face of a deadly enemy that must be, uh, "neutralilzed" ... and quickly (i.e., in November).

I think he meant it was difficult to book a trip in/out of Miami over the weekend BECAUSE of the Superbowl, not that he was going to it.

Yes, he faced and is still facing enormous backlash.

That can’t be easy for anyone.

He had to do some “drama” to assure Rats of his leftist bona fides!

Basically so he can be invited back to the cocktail parties, and whatever leftist playpens have replaced Weinstein’s & Epstein’s activities.

WADR....This is more important:

John 3:16-18 NIV 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

After that, the impeachment of the POTUS is VERY important. But eternity outranks every other consideration.
