Does anyone care to verify?
Taiwanese authorities have ordered all 2,000 people coming back from Wuhan to wear electronic monitoring devices and stay in their own home to prevent the spread of the disease. Police will know immediately if anyone leaves home and place them in enforced quarantine, authorities said. The move comes after a man was fined $10,000 for failing to report his symptoms after traveling to Wuhan. https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Coronavirus-outbreak/Coronavirus-latest-Confirmed-cases-in-China-surpass-SARS-total?fbclid=IwAR1k7wjr03uuICx9mKFH87eN303YAvlJb_cv8lNFhtAB9kzCvuS9zdGd8BY
You might enjoy this one, too...Yikes if true.

And in the meantime, the FBI has arrested the chair of Chemistry at Harvard...for you know, under-the-table dealings with China.
It's those precise scientific terms that make zero hedge such a reputable source. Frankly I don't know if any viruses are more resistant than others, but from what I have read about viruses they will nutate frequently and become resistant in a single patient. So anti-viral treatments are not very effective regardless of whether it is a "superbug" or not.
The real question, aside from any hype or someone trying to spook movement in the financial markets so they can profit off of it (think options in either direction, for example)...
is the job posting real?
Are there any military applications of investigating the molecular basis of viral immunity (either within the host, or reverse-engineering to make viruses act differently than normal) ?
Jesse Waters said yesterday on The Five that he was speaking with the Fox doctor (cant remember his name) and HE knows. He said the Chinese are lying about the numbers. So the President must know as well.
Thank you for that.
Very nice link!
Sorry, should’ve *PINGED* you to this post.
About how Taiwan is dealing with people coming from Wuhan.
Compare to what the US is doing...
I rather doubt that.
Ebola nurse Kaci Hickox went out for pizza while "under quarantine".
There might have been a window to shut off contact with China to prevent the spread but that is now over. The virus is out and will grow here and drastic measures now will be too late. Let’s hope it won’t be too bad. I lived through the SARS scare here in Toronto. For the most part life went on as normal here during that time. After it was over we did get a huge Rolling Stones concert with many other bands. :)
Not to worry, no shortage of threads *sigh*
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
So the guy admitted in public he loves Wang?.../dry>
Something that comes to my mind is that “normal” temperature for any given individual varies with the individual: It can be as low as 97 deg. F. My Mom normally runs about 97.5 deg F.
Can a person with a mild case 2019-nCoV have a temperature 1.5 deg. F above their “normal” temperature, with no other significant / visible symptoms, and be at least somewhat contagious? IF yes, I think it’s easy to see where this goes...
That’s a possibility and food for thought. Thanks!
The guy in Germany was infected by a gal that visited from Shanghai. The last I heard she still hasn’t shown any symptoms.
Above is an article about a child that has the virus but no symptoms.
What I find most interesting, is the glaring contrast between reports and actions from the government in China.
Look at the product, it says product of ______, names the country. Some have the statement distrubuted by _______. This I don’t accept as it does not mention the country of origin. Main thin is, use your common sense.
of course many places china included don’t have such good sanitation so a big outbreak there was simply a matter of time
