Trump on why he decided to speak at March for Life: 'Religious liberty is under siege'

President Trump said that “religious liberty is under siege” when asked why he decided to become the first president in history to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Friday.

"Religious liberty is under siege. If you look at everything that the folks here stand for that we’re surrounded by, that’s under siege," Trump told Fox News. He went on to say that it was an “honor” to be at the march.

Trump addressed the March for Life crowd on Friday for about 15 minutes in a speech that touted the several ways his administration has supported pro-life initiatives.

“During my first week in office, I reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, and we issued a landmark pro-life rule to govern the use of Title X taxpayer funding,” the president told the crowd. “I notified Congress that I would veto any legislation that weakens pro-life policy or that encourages the destruction of human life.”

Trump also reminded the crowd of the judges he has appointed during his term, including two on the Supreme Court.

“To uphold our founding documents, we've confirmed 187 federal judges who apply the Constitution as written, including two phenomenal Supreme Court justices: Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh,” he said.

Some pundits were saying it might not be a good move "politically", but I don't think Trump looks at issues that way.
"Is it the right thing to do? Yes? Then let's do it, politics be damned."

Now THAT'S integrity.

It’s a shame we always need the country on the brink to get a Reagan or a Trump.

Anyone care to bet if ANY of the catholic priests in my parish will give any mention of praise to Trump’s speech in Sunday’s homily?

It was also an honor for my wife and I to be in the audience for this historical speech.
