Neither side wants witnesses, they don’t want the corruption machine exposed. So, instead we will have kabuki theater - the ‘pubs will rationalize the “no witnesses” votes, and the dems will then claim a cover-up until November.

Lisa doesn’t want to support POTUS on this. The easiest thing for the GOP Senate to do is just wash their hands: No witnesses, Have a vote and throw the action back to the House.

DiFi will be re-educating Lisa M. before long.

Will the security cameras catch that act?

Meanwhile, calling Hunter Biden as a witness creates no issue of “executive privilege”, since he was never a federal employee.

And if the Democrats scream that he’s irrelevant to the case, Trump’s attorneys can reply that he is CENTRAL to the case. If Hunter was getting paid via corruption, partially funded by US aid money, then Trump was totally justified in asking Ukraine to investigate.

In reality, in a conflict between the executive and legislative branches, the Courts are supposed to decide. If the alleged urgency to protect the 2020 election had any merit, the Courts would provide an expedited ruling, and the House could have had their witnesses if their demand had legal merit. The truth is this is all a cynical campaign ad for the November election, and the democrats are hoping their impeachment charade will do more to motivate their base than it does to alienate swing voters. Considering that they were going to lose in November, they might as well try this Hail Mary.

They wouldn’t have to go through the courts this time.

Lisa is lying.

All they have to do is ask the judge of the trial, CJ Roberts.

If the Chief Justice is currently presiding, my guess is he could, and would, expedite any appeal to the full Supreme Court.

I don;t think he even has to do that. I think he can just say yes or no when it comes to executive privilege being extended to Bolton.

The Lower House doesn’t dictate to the Upper House.

Schumer just said that if there’s a bipartisan agreement in the Senate to issue subpoenas, the court will quickly approve them. Maybe, maybe not.

Murkowski and others seem to think it will take a while to make its way through the courts. Who’s right? Schumer, or wavering Republican senators?

I think the author is right. There seems to be no appetite for the battle that would ensue if the Senate issues subpoenas. I almost hope it happens, just because it would be interesting to watch how the process plays out. Still, it would be best for everyone, including Democrat, that this circus end soon.

We’ll probably know by next Wednesday, if not sooner.

lol

As long as she has an R next to her name and votes for the judges and votes in our favor in impeachment, it’s better to have her than a D in a state that isn’t likely to vote for a real conservative.

But that was a pretty funny post :)

Witnesses have no probative value. The House’s case is based entirely on hearsay and unfounded speculation about the President’s motives.

Democrats didn’t want to call witnesses in the House. It isn’t the Senate‘s obligation to fix the shortcomings in their case.

Its time to move on and to get back to the business of the country.

I think there is a huge danger in letting Federal courts get involved in a dispute that relates to a process like impeachment that is explicitly laid out in the Constitution in terms of executive and legislative branch functions.
