Under Dems’ Trump impeachment justification, Lincoln would’ve been impeached
Fox News ^ | January 23 2020 | Gregg Jarrett

If Rep. Adam Schiff was around in 1864, he would have orchestrated the impeachment of President Abraham Lincoln.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Schiff, D-Calif., and his confederate impeachment managers demand that President Trump be removed from office because the president did something that might advantage him politically in the upcoming election. This, they claim was an impeachable “abuse of power.”

On the floor of the Senate, Schiff exclaimed that Trump wanted “to cheat” in the November presidential election by asking Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son over potential corruption. Democrats are the only ones who are buying this thin gruel.

The great crime of Trump in Democrat eyes, is that no Democrat can beat him in November.

That’s why they want to remove him from office. All the rest is just blather.

1930’s democrats impeached and removed this Coolidge Judge

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halsted_L._Ritter

Sounds to me like the charges were BS. He was convicted on one charge of “Bringing the judiciary into disrepute” despite being acquitted on all specific charges.

They had tried and failed to remove another Coolidge Judge.

There were far more solid grounds for impeaching Lincoln than for Johnson or Trump. Lincoln directly defied several Constitutional articles. He put political opponents in jail. He muzzled the Press, etc. Johnson disobeyed a patently unConstitutioinal law passed to tie his hands and was impeached for that. The Congress tried the same thing against Nixon i.e. made it illegal to fire an appointed employee of the Executive branch.

As a dryly irreverent observation, I'd say that Lincoln was already 'impeached' even before his inauguration .. as southern state after southern state seceeded from the union. Just that it wasn't exactly called "impeachment" at the time, but in a way, it was.

... and now there's all THIS !!!

He also suspended habeas corpus.

But in the end Lincoln did receive an impeachment at Ford's Theater.

OUCH !!!

But in a way you're probably right, although perhaps a bit blunt

Under their tactics, EVERY president can be impeached.

Perhaps he should be impeached for creating a great economy.

If the RATs had their way, every conservative POTUS would have been assassinated, just like Lincoln.

Lincoln was an atheist, who suffered from manic depression.

He was widely despised in both the north, and the south.

Yet, the post-war intelligentsia molded him into a secular martyred saint, to justify his monstrous, unnecessary war against the seceding states.

Yeah, the fact that they committed treason against the US is pretty important. If Andy Jackson had been President, the South would have submitted in the first year. He would have gone Sherman on them at the beginning.

Did the 13 colonies “ commit treason “ when they seceded from Great Britain ?

Instead of embracing the NEA, public school version of “ honest Abe “, and the “ glorious cause “ of “ preserving the union “, you might want to dig a bit deeper.

A good place to start would be Mark Levin’s new book, Unfreedom Of The Press.

Trick question since they didn't "secede" - they openly rebelled against British rule.

The South wanted to rend the Union asunder and destroy the US, they got what they deserved, and too slowly.

And now, all 50 states are paying the price of the “ Union “ that Lincoln “ preserved “.

If the states were divided into 6 or 8 governing entities, or confederacies, would they be involved in eternal, unnecessary foreign wars, domestic “ entitlements “, and have a burgeoning, $ 22 trillion national debt ?

I think the answer is obvious, don’t you ?

It obvious that a divided USA would be better with a mutual defense treaty.

You are still parroting 19th century political propaganda! What you said didn't work then and it is really a stupid thing to say now. It didn't work then so Lincoln had to switch memes mid war and throw in with the abolitionists ( terrorists) to a war fought against slavery.

I, continually, shake my head, in disgust, at all the people, who say we should divide this country, between, left and right. We, Patriotic Americans, need to take back this country from the Dems, and their anti-Americanism, not divide it. The Dems have no place in America.
