I looked up the 1967 embargo imposed by De Gaulle himself. He pulled France out of NATO, too. A bastard all the way around. He sided with the Arabs over Israel after that and sustained the embargo.
Fact was, the French aerospace industry was supplying Israel with Mirage and Mystere fighters long after De Gaulle began playing footsie with the Arab world, which came to a sordid climax when he granted independence for Algeria and made tens of thousands of Europeans homeless though they had lived there more than a century before.
France’s Muslim migrant problem began soon afterward.
De Gaulle was a self centered jerk. Relation between France and Israel began to improve after he croaked.

The Froggies apparently gave Israel a lot of their nuclear tech back in the 1960’s. It certainly didn’t come from the US. You might cut the French a little slack for that.
Oh, for a while they were somewhat friendly to Israel - but the Israelis also developed quite a bit of their nuclear infrastructure without French help. Anyhow, Macron hasn’t been noted as being too friendly toward Israel, and has been a downright disaster for the Jews of France because he coddles the Islamics.
he’s had a rough week. First being evacuated from a flash-mob at the theatre, and now, fleeing the mess in his country, having to redress troops from entering a church deemed French ‘soil’.
