At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Alexander Hamilton threw out a lot of ideas at dinners at various taverns with his fellow delegates. He did this to gauge reactions before he tried out the ideas at the Convention itself.

One idea he threw out at dinner was to dissolve the existing 13 states and permit the counties to organize themselves into new states. The final result might be 5 states or 25 states. His plan called for the president to appoint the governors of the states, thus making the states administrative subdivisions of the federal government.

The basis of Hamilton's trial balloon was to forge a consolidated nation. The people on whom Hamilton tried this idea didn't take to it at all.

But part of his idea may make sense today. Perhaps counties should be free to change states. Socialists could gather in their states and patriots in theirs.

Not a good idea. The sanctuaries need to remain in VA and harass blackface coonman. leaving gives him carte blanche. It’s a different situation than that in CA, where citizens are leaving in droves, because there are virtually no conservatives of any political significance, and too few counties to become 2A sanctuaries.

Nope, it will never happen. However, wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people picked up and left the state. At first I thought with a mass exodus they’d have trouble selling their houses, but it occurred to me that the liberals who want a gun free world would probably move there, a win/win ... or is it ?

I drove through Asheville last week and saw a car with a warren sticker.

I didn’t realize there were those with the nerve to wear such a sticker

The new state of ‘South Virginia’ with their Republican Governor, 8 Republican members of Congress and 2 Republican Senators.

Yes, it is! But the politicians are in Raleigh and they rule the state. And TN has no state tax and the people have more freedom. Just drive across the border and you can tell the difference.

I left Raleigh about thirty yrs ago. Raleigh has changed A LOT.

“While joining West Virginia would sound good, it would be better if they declared themselves to be a NEW STATE as that should give us two new REPUBLICAN Senators.”

This is what I advocate.
I have spoken with local citizens from many different backgrounds and economic levels, even law enforcement. They would rather secede and form a separate state than join an existing state. Start with a clean slate as it were.

There is absolutely precedence. There are parts of Arkansas on the east side of the Mississippi River and parts of Mississippi on the west side of the River. Without a good boat you’ll have to travel out of state to go anywhere.

I lived in Virginia back in the late 90’s...hated it. Over taxed, over regulated. Felt like a police state.

Beautiful area, lots of rich history, but damn...could get back to Texas fast enough.
