Arrested Trump foe Avenatti must face 'vindictive' Nike extortion case in NY

A federal judge on Wednesday rejected Michael Avenatti’s bid to dismiss criminal charges accusing him of trying to extort Nike Inc (NKE.N), after the celebrity lawyer claimed he was targeted in a “vindictive” prosecution because of his feud with U.S. President Donald Trump.

U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe in Manhattan ruled the morning after Avenatti was arrested in California for potential violations of his bail conditions, in a separate case there accusing him of defrauding other clients.

Avenatti has pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges he faces.

Lawyers for Avenatti told Gardephe on Wednesday their client is in custody, possibly in a Santa Ana, California jail, and California prosecutors plan to seek to revoke his bail at a hearing today.

The lawyers also said they likely will not be able to meet with Avenatti in person for at least several days, and asked to discuss delaying the scheduled Jan. 21 trial in the Nike case.

I suspect he was caught trying to liquidate or hide frozen assets. Just a hunch, nothing to back it up.

He must be insane. Seriously. He must be batsh*t crazy.

First he was already rich. How much money do you need to live comfortably?

I would rather live in a cardboard box under a bridge than risk something that would put me in prison. No kidding. Freedom is way more valuable than money.

If Trump was in charge of the DOJ then Flynn would be free. The swamp remains strong in the DOJ.

He was already living on OPM (Other People's Money). When you run out of OPM you have to get some more.

The ironic thing, which the lamestream media will never report, is that his Nike extortion scheme was identical to his Stormy Daniels scheme. Find a useful idiot that is willing to make false claims and extort a target to pay to keep the useful idiot from taking the false claims to the press.

Avenatti should have went to the Clinton school of crime and he would have got a way with everything.

Al Reuters needs to learn that Nike is a very liberal company surrounded by liberals who want to take the land they own west of Portland.
Trump is mostly hated in Portland.
CPL did this to himself.

Do you think he’ll get out in time to step in when the democratic convention can’t pick a winner?
