Thanks for lending some sense to this miserable thread.

“No offense, but anyone who is posting on this thread and doesn’t even know these basic facts really has no credibility even if your opinions are good ones. “

No offense, but the Senate Trial is held how the Senate decides to hold it.

They make up their own rules, anyone posting on this thread who doesn’t know that basic fact has no credibility at all.

“These rules start with a presentation of the charges followed by a vote to call witnesses.”

Quite right. And I think Mitch is telling us he doesn’t have the votes to stop the calling of witnesses.

Just a quibble, but a pet peeve of mine: no Senator, not even a ‘Rat, is going to vote to impeach Trump. Trump has already been impeached, just as Clinton and A. Johnson were before him. Impeachment is the formal accusation that an officeholder has committed high crimes or misdemeanors meriting removal from office. The Senate will vote on the question of removal, not whether or not to impeach.

And McConnell has already said how they're going to hold it. Nothing has changed on that front since December.

You have no idea what the hell you’re talking about. You’re just one of a group of pathological malcontents who gets on here and spews any bullsh!t that meets your warped world view.

It is a sad display of bad political fiction writers.

I remember the same ravings back during the last SCOTUS fiasco.

“Nothing has changed on that front since December. “

Ok, so I say he should change it.

Make a motion to dismiss, make a bunch of speeches excoriating the House, then dismiss with extreme prejudice.

No, McConnell punted on witnesses today. The tough talk is gone. He’s in mealy mouthed CYA mode.

I know that political parties were not part of the Founders’ design, that they developed anyway, and that Mitch McConnell does not want Donald Trump to be removed from office.
What is it exactly that you know?

I know “exactly” that McConnell and the GOP controlled Senate haven’t lifted a finger in support of POTUS since the hoaxblower impeachment op was launched 3 months ago. Wouldn’t you agree that is very strange behavior for someone who “doesn’t want Trump removed from office?”

Don't appreciate the snide. This will be a circus . Clintons Senate trial had no live witnesses or little TV air time .
They spent a few days each week in closed door meetings.
It was locked down event .

Don't plan on that for Trump.
Lots of live witnesses and 24 / 7 tv trashing .
Lott had control and didn't want it.
Mitch is useless outside his work for his Globalist buddies including China . He wants to take Trump down .

Whenever I see quarterly FR fundraisers that last almost three full months, I think about all the great Freepers who have walked away from this website because they’re sick of reading sh!t from miserable losers on threads like this.

Above all he wants the MAGA agenda hamstrung. The GOP lied to the GOP base voters and supported open borders and unfair trade for 30 years. What better way to do that than a months long impeachment circus that paralyzes the beltway?

You have been posting that same sh!t for months, and yet you still haven't explained what exactly the "GOP controlled Senate" was supposed to do while a House proceeding that had no Senate involvement was going on.

“Mitch is not stupid.”

He isn’t stupid; he’s sly. And he wants Trump gone. He’s got too much to lose if Trump cleans the swamp any deeper.

You are full of sh!t. Read the damned article at the top of this thread:

McConnell spoke to reporters after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., announced that the lower chamber would vote to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate on Wednesday. They are doing so without assurances from McConnell that he’ll allow for witnesses and documents in the trial, despite Democrats holding up the process for the past month in pursuit of such a commitment.

In other words, NOTHING HAS CHANGED SINCE McCONNELL FIRST MADE HIS SPEECH ON THE SENATE FLOOR THE DAY AFTER THE HOUSE VOTED ON THE TWO ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT.

“What role would Chief Justice Roberts play in a possible trial?”

According to Mark Steyn on Rush, Roberts would be something like a facilitator or moderator. Even though he’s a judge, he isn’t a judge in this setting. At least that’s how I understood it.
