That will be the price of a family marriage to an attorney.

"State officials [???] who set those fees […]"

Those “state officials” better be elected officials imo.

Also, as a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

"Turning right on a red light without fully stopping will cost you $500 in California."

Regarding politically correct global warming, doesn’t coming to a full stop and then accelerating from that full stop have a larger carbon footprint than accelerating from a rolling stop?

The problem with rolling stops is that a driver in a hurry might misjudge traffic and get in fender bender with right-of-way traffic.

It is actually called a “California stop.”

Call it what you want, but it will get you an expensive ticket.

California’s silly policy reform of the week. And many states are scratching their heads wondering why the crime rate is exploding.

Cheaper to pack-up and move out of that CA hellhole, than pay those idiotic fines.

Something very similar is happening in Florida. Evidently, many can’t afford to pay traffic fines which are fairly high. The State then suspends their license. They still need to drive even with a suspended license.

The result? A lot of hit and run accidents. Florida ranks among the top 3 states for hit and runs.

Orlando certainly has a lot of these accidents, many resulting in fatalities.

The Orlando Sentinel (which just proudly partnered with the NYT to pick up their articles) recommends raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. No consideration was given to lowering the fines.

The $15 wage hike will likely come from an amendment to the Constitution which is the left’s favorite way of passing crap that can’t pass in the Legislature.

We just finished moving my parents out of southern California. Hubby and I are of the same opinion you are. If I never set foot in California again, I’m good.

Its so clearly obvious that traffic fines focus on making money and not on safety. California is the worst.

The police stalk drivers on all kinds of levels.

Separating you from your car is all part of Agenda 21.

The 14th amendment talks about the equal protection of the laws. This isn’t about protection of the laws—this is about equal harassment of the laws.

Equal protection under the law is long gone in California.

I have lived in CA for 50 years, and I have never heard it referred to as anything other than a California Stop.

“I think I’ll start looking around for a BIL lawyer.”

That good lawyer retired and has been replaced with a semi retired one. Just mentioning his name or showing his card settles a lot of potential problems.

IF the paint on my license plate is peeling-—WHY is that MY fault?

I didn’t make the thing-—I didn’t order/approve the contents of the materials needed to make the plate & PAINT IT.

IF the state is making such a poor quality product, it is another strong indication of how poor everything gets done in Calif.

I bought my first NEW car in California in Feb of 1965.
I STILL HAVE THAT PLATE-—I sold the car to a gentleman in Sweden, 33 years later-—and the car had over 444,000 miles on it & still ran great.

I still remember the plate number, ——without finding it in my garage-—& I have fun watching Adam 12 or Dragnet & comparing the numbers they quote there & how close to that plate number I hear.

Living in Northern California, I heard the expression “Hollywood stop” from time to time.

Alas, I’ve lived in California even longer than you have. I miss the California that was.

It is actually called a “California stop.””””

I lived in So Calif for 29 years.

I always heard it called a “Hollywood stop”.

“I am acting like I am going to stop.....”

I live in rural N Nevada now & I have a few drivers who refuse to stop at the corner of my property. Someday they will pay a big price for that..Cross traffic is driving too fast, also.

About 15 years ago I sold a travel trailer to a couple that had a local address (Nevada). I insisted that they fill out a record of the transfer and I filed it with the DMV. About 5 years later a process server showed up and dropped a summons on me. I was being sued by a man in Alabama for the damage the trailer did to his vehicle in an accident. I responded with a motion to dismiss with proof from the DMV that I had sold the trailer. Case dismissed. The police had found the title in the trailer from when I owned it. It had never been transferred to any of the new owner(s). Very glad I didn’t just sign off the title and let them go on their way.
