The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday announced that it plans to investigate the Department of Homeland Security's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), which encourages migrants from Central America to seek asylum in Mexico rather than in the U.S.
News of the letter comes just hours after Fox News reported that the Trump administration has begun sending Mexican migrants from non-border states on flights to central Mexico, a policy that reportedly began last month.
DHS officials told the news outlet that the agency could fly two flights a week totaling 250 migrants per week under the program.
Dozens of Senate Democrats wrote a letter to DHS last year opposing the policy, writing at the time that the U.S. has "turned its back on its domestic and international legal obligations by forcing men, women, and children to await resolution of their U.S. asylum cases in parts of Mexico plagued by violence."
"It is imperative that the United States end this reckless course of action and reaffirm its commitment to the principles of due process on which this country was founded," they wrote in August.

When the democrats can’t come up with any productive ideas just investigate something and stall any productive ideas anyone else has.
They cherish “due process” for illegals. “Due process” includes housing, food, medical care, education for the kiddies, free wifi, a car, and big fat cigars.
I wish they’d investigate the huge number of investigations they’ve launched. That investigation alone could take a decade and a hundred million dollars.
Still not a thing done for the American people in an year.

While I approve of this pilot program, it is too small by a factor of at least 1,000. I'd like to send 250,000 illegals per week back to Mexico or to their home countries . . . 12 million illegals per year. The DHS program is a small drop in a very large illegal bucket. Deport all illegals. No exceptions. Hold all asylum claimants outside our country until their claims are investigated and approved, and even then we can probably do more good keeping them in Mexico than bringing them to our much more expensive country.
