A massive five-alarm fire ripped through buildings in downtown Bound Brook Sunday night, though no injuries have been reported as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.

The fire broke out on East Main Street near Mountain Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. Photos and video showed roaring flames spreading to both sides of the street and consuming a building in the borough’s downtown commercial district.

Bound Brook is known for two things: (1) It’s in a flood zone and gets inundated with water whenever a hurricane with drenching rains makes landfall in New Jersey; and (2) Illegal aliens.

Damn Siri. Embers from the fire were starting several brush fire units were out putting those out.

It sounds like it was a large multi story wood frame building under construction that went up.

1.5 miles from my house. 5-alarm fire. We could hear popping sounds, I assume from small containers of some sort popping in the heat. A good amount of smoke lit from beneath by the fire for an hour or so (around 8:30-9:30), but they got it under control pretty quickly.

And yes, Bound Brook does flood, and is chock full of illegals. But it’s also home to Stan’s Chitch’s Cafe - killer thin crust pizza!

That was one of the things I noticed also. Normally a fire on once side of the street may melt plastic items, but not often will it catch those building on fire. It must have gotten huge quickly before enough units were able to spray water on the exposure buildings.

Were Clinton records stored there, and was Comey the last guy confirmed to have left the building?

I'm gonna have to check that out. I love thin crust pizza. (Until recently, I lived in Berkeley Heights.)

Thanks for the tip. I drive past that area 3-4 times a month. Usually I go to Pete & Elda’s or Chimney Rock for thin-crust pizza, but this is much more en route for me.

Considering that recently the islamists have been instructed to start fires, i doubt this was accidental.

Course, I’m getting suspicious of EVERYTHING these days.
Too much is happening that is too *convenient* for the other side these days.

Bound Brook no longer floods since they put in a levee some years ago. Still lots of illegals but the building that burned was part of a redevelopment project putting up expensive apartments aimed at young professionals. They already built one further down Main St, another is going up across from that one and another is going up across from the one that burned.

The goal is to make downtown Bound Brook like downtown New Brunswick with shops and expensive apartments for young people.

Much of the downtown of Bound Brook burned in the 1897 fire that started when floodwaters ignited stored
Lime at the L. D. Cook lumberyard. That fire burned much of the eastern end of Main St.

I feel bad for Bound Brook, I grew up in Bridgewater. Bound Brook is such a historic town, there even was a battle downtown during the American Revolution and they have a historical re-enactment there every April. It has a lot of potential.
