DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Irans security forces deployed in large numbers across the capital on Sunday, expecting more protests after its Revolutionary Guard admitted to accidentally shooting down a passenger plane at a time of soaring tensions with the United States.
Riot police in black uniforms and helmets massed in Vali-e Asr Square, Tehran University and other landmarks as calls circulated for protests later in the day. Revolutionary Guard members patrolled the city on motorbikes and plainclothes security men were also out in force. People looked down as they walked briskly past the police, hoping not to draw attention to themselves.
The plane crash early Wednesday killed all 176 people on board, mostly Iranians and Iranian-Canadians. After initially pointing to a technical failure and insisting the armed forces were not to blame, authorities on Saturday finally admitted to accidentally shooting it down in the face of mounting evidence and accusations by Western leaders.

I wonder if Butt-gig will admit this?
The mullets must be getting old. They forgot the first rule of dictators - deny, deny, deny.
I know, it probably breaks U.S. and/or international laws .... but it's still a nice thought.
Would love to see Trump order flyovers of Iran that drop tens of thousands of small parachutes with tiny payloads — consisting of a few handguns and a couple thousands rounds of ammo. Maybe a little booklet with helpful instructions in Farsi on how a people can take back their government from tyrants.
Maybe we can fund it with money from El Chapo to fund it. Iran Contra put on its head!
As Rush would say, they’ll blame it on some poor shlub private who panicked.
Attacking our embassy isnt having the returns they expected.
i haven’t seen anything to indicate it, but i keep thinking some how thidowned plane is connected to Dems and a mishap of theirs behind the scenes or similar.
Associated with Uranium One, as well.
The fact that the plane was Ukrainian, of all countries, is certainly strange. Especially with the “wag the dog” talk by Dems.
Trump could start and do the following:
1. Start up “Radio Free Persia!”
2. Meet with the Shah’s Son—a figure for Persians to rally around.
3. Help with a Persia gov. in Exile. With a consitutional Monarchy.
4. Set up a study or think tank on all the horrors done by the Mullahs to their own people
5. Complane to the UN if the demomnstrators are harmed in any way.
6. Build a statue to that girl who was gunned down last set of demonstrations.
Ok. However, even that poor private scapegoat needs permission to launch missiles. Is the Iranian military so incompetent that they shoot a civilian aircraft as it takes off from their own airport?
Someone didn’t get the word. Two different agencies not communicating.
