Graham compares Trump's Iran remarks to Reagan's 'tear down this wall' address

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said President Trump’s speech on Iran will be a highlight of his presidency, comparing it to former President Reagan's 1987 speech in Berlin urging Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall."

The Wednesday night remarks on Fox News by Graham, who frequently offers public praise of Trump, were ridiculed as hyperbolic by critics.

“This speech will be talked about long after his second term,” Graham said. “This is on par with Reagan's ‘tear down this wall’ speech.”

Interestingly, after I had a few hours to digest what their response meant, I ralized that this has more in common with the elimination of the berlin wall than just about anything else over the last hundred years.

This will probably be trump’s legacy.

There's a school of thought that says the leadership in Iran actually wanted Soleimani dead more than the US did. That he was the main roadblock to any negotiations, but they were afraid to take any action because he was Iran's equivalent of a General Patton and very popular with the rank and file and they risked a military coup if they took any action directly.

So we did the deed for them, of course they had to weep and act outraged and vow revenge for the peanut gallery. Then to calm the masses they got their "revenge" by launching a bunch of poorly targeted missiles after giving the US troops ample time to take shelter by telling the Swiss Ambassador, to make sure they didn't inadvertently start a war they would certainly lose. So now Soleimani is dead, they have had their "revenge" to save face and can move on.

Not sure if there is any part of this theory that is true, but President Trump's conciliatory response makes me thing at lest some of it may be valid.

Fascinating if true! Would be great if Iran wants peace and is looking for some way to get there.

Not sure if there is any part of this theory that is true, but President Trump's conciliatory response makes me thing at lest some of it may be valid.

That theory, along with others rely on the idea that the mullahs, and their followers are not blood thirsty religious fanatics, bent on resurrecting the old glory of Persia wrapped liberally in islam.

Facts on the ground don't seem to bear that out.
