My local alleged conservative DJ this morning said over and over he really REALLY wished Trump hadn’t blamed the Fraud with his “rhetoric”, but instead to have said something like 0’s transfer of 150 billion dollars made it EASIER for Iran to continue their attacks. We didn’t exactly give them $150B of US money, instead we freed up $150B of Iranian assets that Jimmy Carter had frozen.
Either way, overnight they had $150B more dough to play with...so the effect is the same. That is about 2 years worth of oil production for Iran, some serious money for them.

Kerry’s argument is bunk even on its own terms. Trump said
“they were given $150 billion” and
“the funds made available by the last administration”.
Kerry’s argument is that a court ordered the US to give them the money and so therefore Trump’s statement is a lie. That is bunk for two reasons:
1. Every administration since Jimmy Carter refused to give them the money despite any court order so the implication that they had no choice is bunk.
2. Just because a court orders you to give someone something doesn’t make it a “lie” to say you gave it to them.
Kerry’s best argument would be “Yes, we gave it to them but we had to give it to them (even though Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush somehow refused to do so).”
Here’s the thing.
Iran suddenly had $150 billion to fund terrorism, several proxy wars, and a nuclear weapons program.
Obama approved the release of the funds to them.
