Scientists have developed a method that allows them to identify so-called climate change "fingerprints" in daily weather observations - and it found consistent evidence of global warming every day since late March 2012.
Using climate models and statistical learning techniques, a team of researchers at ETH Zurich in Switzerland were able to identify climate change's "fingerprint" in global daily mean temperatures, which had been calculated from measurements collected in locations across the world.
The researchers highlighted that while local daily mean temperatures might fluctuate significantly year-on-year, global daily mean measurements show a consistent trend towards global warming.
They say their data modeling enables them to pinpoint the "fingerprint" of climate change on global measurements for any day since late March 2012 and every month since 2001.
"Weather at the global level carries important information about climate," Reto Knutti, a professor in climate science at ZTH, said in a statement. "This information could, for example, be used for further studies that quantify changes in the probability of extreme weather events, such as regional cold spells."
The researchers say their model could help explain the occurrence of abnormal regional weather events - such as cold snaps - and help the study of long-term climate change that might be "masked" by regional variations in temperature.
"In future, we should therefore be able to pick out human-induced patterns and trends in other more complex measurement parameters, such as precipitation, that are hard to detect using traditional statistics," said Knutti.

I get the impression that the way to construct these models is to put in several columns of data, and tweak the algorithm until it shows warming. Then you publish.
Knutti looks like he ticks all the climate change industry boxes. Big salary. Expensive fossil fueled car. Large multi toilet home in an upmarket quarter of his city. Frequent flyer on junket airlines.
It’s gonna be 60 degrees one day this weekend in NYC so of course the bullhorns about globull warming are out.

The record high temperature for January in New York is 72 degrees....The first time was on January 26, 1950, and the second time was on January 6, 2007.
So globull warming started in 1950, I guess, then went away for 57 years and then came back for a day..and has gone away again for 12 years.
It’s been COLD here a number of days already. Cold enough to kill car batteries.
And the coldest part hasn’t even begun yet.
the models are setup to use any data set and achieve the same results, just wait til next year or so when the effects of the current Solar Minimum become apparent.

The effects of humans on Earth cannot be understated. We’ve been able to survive in environments all over the world, even harsh ones such as Antarctica. Every year, we fell forests and destroy other natural areas, driving species into smaller areas or into endangerment, because of our need to build more housing to contain our growing population.

So the models take the raw temperature and "adjust" it.
The result of the "adjustment" is warming.
Just like 'he who counts the votes actually decides the election', it is 'he who adjusts the data that decides the result.
