It has been an emotional start to the new year for Rocio Rebollar Gomez and her family.
On Thursday, after 31 years in the United States, a country where she had built a life and raised three children, including a son now in the United States Army, Ms. Gomez was deported to Tijuana, Mexico, where she had little family left.
That son, Second Lt. Gibram Cruz, 30, who has been in the Army for five years and rushed to be with her the day after Christmas, said he was “shocked” at the way his mother was treated and called the actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement “completely inhumane.”

But I can understand it, as a retired Army Officer I have been trying to get my wife an green card since 2011 and still no joy.

Criminal activity has consequences. If her son doesn't understand that, he should not be serving the the US armed forces.
This woman illegally took resources and opportunities away from Americans.

We are 13 months into this sponsor effort, and it’s still not settled. No only is my wife the spouse of an US Citizen, she is the biological mother of an US Citizen.
She gave the US an Army officer. I should think that would be more than enough to mitigate the circumstances.
Rocio needs to review the pledges he swore to uphold.

I am less sorry for her than I am for all those waiting to come to the U.S. legally and are betrayed by the illegals that illegally jump to the head of the line. Accepting all the illegals as O.K. is like flipping the bird at those waiting for their opportunity legally.

She knew exactly what she was doing. Since I’m Hispanic also, I would like to know what planet this officer thinks he lives on, where folks can just come and go as they please breaking laws & so forth - stealing from others?
Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaragua have fierce immigration laws.
