Because conservatives know (or should know) that whatever they say will be spun, misrepresented, put in a context they never meant, etc, no matter what they say. Their words will even be outright lied about. So, best to say nothing, so that when the left presumes to put words in our mouths, they have to come right out and brazenly lie, because we said nothing at all to them.

The last Washington Post reporter I talked with told me that it is more important to tell the larger truths (in that particular case the truth that guns are bad) than to get the facts of an individual story correct (and she admitted that her facts were wrong). She is one of their top journalists, so I completely dismiss their reporting.
Well, Ms Dvorak, you think that conservative women are bigoted homophobes who are controlled by their husbands and I think you are economically, sociologically, historically and psychologically illiterate. How do we start a conversation, given our preconceived perspectives?
Because anything I say can and will be used against me in the media court.

It would never cross my mind, now that I'm an adult, to search for the candidate whose policies only benefit me, and to heck with the country. Conservative women care about the country. Liberal women leave out the o-r-y.
This is one of those cases where the question contains the answer.
Petula Dvorak and her comrades are so ideologically dimwitted that they probably genuinely feel the need to ask a question like that.
The question should be, why doesn't this "confused" WashingtonComPost columnist support President Trump with everything he has done for the economy and the American people?
Why is she trying to figure out why all of these other women support Trump?
She should be asking why she isn't supporting him herself.
Instead of seeking out the facts, like a journalist should, she's trying to fit all these women's reasons into her own narrative.
No wonder the media is so biased.
She asked “why don’t these backwards, neanderthal, racist, bigoted, mean spirited, xenophobic, misogynist, simple minded, gun loving, anti immigrant, religious fairy tale believing halfwits tell me why they support an impeached criminal president ?” She thinks she’s an unbiased journalist.
Why does it matter? They’re going to write the article they want regardless of the input.
