As I recall, she actually took voice lessons to learn how to not be so screechy before she ascended. That was a very important part of her development.

I heard many of her diatribes in debates at Parliament. Never heard her as screechy.

She was hardly measured. She was very intense, her phrase about running out of other people's money to spend was something she spoke often. It was pointed and derisive.

I'm glad she dressed appropriately; she spoke well, but she was never mistaken as genial. One of the reasons she was called the iron lady.

We can agree to disagree. That's okay.

When Eric Robert’s sister started being hailed as the really hot chick (WORST part of Ocean’s 11 - nobody is going to get out of jail and come back for that - ever),

No kidding.

The Telegraph describes Thatcher's remake as being supervised by Gordon Reece, a former television producer:

It was Reece – a flamboyant figure who reputedly lived solely on champagne and cigars – who advised Mrs. Thatcher to adopt a softer hairstyle, get rid of her “fussy” clothes and stick to a high neckline and pastel shades. Crucially, he also advised her to lower the tone of her voice and speak more slowly and closer to the microphone to make her voice husky, intimate and, above all, less hectoring.

"Less hectoring" seems more or less equivalent to "more genial."

LOL.

We're now discussing a word definition.

It's okay, we totally agree on how awesome the Iron Lady was. I'm good with that. I was fortunate to have seen her give a talk in person after her run.

She was probably the best, most effective female politician in the world of the 20th century. Heck, one of the best ever without considering gender.

Thatcher was superb. And she deserved better than how she was turfed out of office by scheming Tory colleagues.
