Curious to know if he filed a suit when the Senate election was stolen and given to Franken. You know, because he doesn’t want political parties making his decisions. I guess it’s alright that Franken won with the help of quite a few ineligible voters, in the form of convicted felons, and, wouldn’t you know it, boxes of ballots found in the trunk of a car, if I’m not mistaken. And the numbers were just enough to tip the scales to Franken. Amazing.

Also, curious to know if he’s the least bit concerned that a sitting member of Congress, representing his state, should be investigated for numerous crimes.

Be interesting to see what his political leanings really are. I’m thinking he ain’t so Independent. No one in their right mind would be mad about this move from the Minnesota Rs.

The solution for “independents” is to get their states to adopt primary election rules to allow “independent” candidates in primaries, with petition drives that would seek to achieve a certain number of signers to put them on the ballot, in which persons with no party affiliation could vote for one of the “independent” candidates.

On the other hand, I do not think “party officials” should hand select who among registtered party members should be the only party members vying to be selected by the party in a primary election. The whole idea of a primary election is to let the registered party members vote on who to represent them in the geneal election, not have that choice dicated to them. If the party leaders are going to dictate that there is only one person for their party in a primary election, then they would be more honest just cancelling the primary election. This to me is not about Trump. It’s about whether parties themselves function democratically or not.

I think that probably Minnesota law provides for write-in candidates.

But isn’t the primary confined only to voters of a declared political party? Or can anybody of whatever party voter registration, jump in and cross over to vote for a primary candidate not of their declared political persuasion?

“I want to be in an American election,”

He should be more specific. An American election could be a South American election.

Minnesota law dictates that the party chair provide a list of candidates for the ballot (which I find somewhat strange).

Who decides which candidates will appear on a party’s ballot?
The chair of each party will submit a list of candidates for the party’s ballot no later than 63 days before the date of the presidential primary (December 31, 2019).

https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/how-elections-work/presidential-primary/

But note this item:

How much will the primary cost?
The Office of Secretary of State surveyed all 87 Minnesota Counties and, based on that survey, estimates that the cost to administer the Presidential Nomination Primary will be $11.9 million. The Secretary of State has certified this estimate to the Commissioner of Management and Budget. Counties and municipalities will be reimbursed for their costs of administering the Presidential Nomination Primary following the election.

Caucuses cost the state taxpayers nothing.

Martin said he doesn’t want to participate in a “Soviet-style” election in which the political parties dictate who the voters can elect.
Have you ever voted, Then you have already done that! Political parties always dictate who you get to vote for!

With respect, it’s not just the text of that document.

It’s our willingness to abide by it, to respect it, to fight and die for the principles it enshrines.

Until Trump cam along, both parties have been picking our candidates for as long as I can remember

YUP!
And neither wing of the UniParty is any too happy with the voters because of it. They may pay us some lip service, but they'll screw us as soon as look at us.
