With no choice but Trump, voter sues over Minnesota primary

A Minnesota voter frustrated because President Donald Trump would be the only name on the state Republican primary ballot in March is challenging the move and muddying the launch of the state’s first presidential primary in decades.

Jim Martin, of Lake Elmo, a small business operator and political independent, filed a lawsuit over the primary rules, the Star Tribune reported. Martin said he doesn’t want to participate in a “Soviet-style” election in which the political parties dictate who the voters can elect.

“I want to be in an American election,” Martin said. “It’s something that sets us apart from the world.”

State Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan had defended the move, arguing that it’s her job as party leader to help re-elect the president. GOP officials have said they will allow write-in candidates.

The disgruntled voter should bring a lawsuit against every eligible resident (including him/herself) in the state of Minnesota because they didn’t run against Trump on the ticket or the ballot that he is grumbling over.

Idiot. It’s the primary! Want more choices, run. It’s as simple as that. And he’s gonna vote Rat anyway.

Furthermore, if he’s an “independent,” why is he voting to choose the Republican nominee? I smell a Rat.

Who is he suing? Every Republican that refuses to run against DJT?

The guy is wrong. Voting is not what sets us apart from other nations. Many countries have elections. It is the text if our Constitution that sets us apart.

He’s an Independent, not a Republican. How can he have standing to sue?

Dismissed without merit. SC had a similar law suit and the Never Trumper bozo lost. Party can run the primary any way it wants. Bozo here can still run in the general election. He has no right to be in a party primary.

I think I’ll sue this guy for the pain, suffering and loss of income he has caused me by being a total brain-dead moron. I’ll have more standing with my suit than he has with his.

As if mr. assclown planned on voting for PDJT anyway. He’s got plenty of contestants to choose from.

It’ll be tossed out of court because he isn’t a Republican and won’t be harmed by its rules.

In other words, Jim Martin has no standing.

Hi.

In the fwiw department, I have never heard a progressive liberal socialist democrat ever complain about only one person on the ballot.

Happens in ‘Rat districts all the time.

Could this be the first time?

Film at 11.

Democrats run Soviet style elections and no one is ever upset it.

People who hate President Trump need to go take a hike. He’s our nominee and our choice.

Deal with it!

Weld and Walsh are allegedly candidates. Do they have any organization in Minnesota to get them on the ballot? I am going to guess they don’t. If you have only one viable candidate, there is going to be only one name on the ballot.
