You’re wrong
It’s EASY TO LIE about the millions of doctors and rocket scientists and curers of cancer that were gonna be born
It’ MURDER
But don’t lie because you and others are the FIRST ONES to scream for the death penalty for the “poor babies” whose lives you fought to keep from ending but did NOTHING the MINUTE after they were born for them.
Hypocrisy runs rampant on the issue.
Pro Life means AFTER THEY’RE BORN AND GROWING UP ALSO
that’s our christian job.
Or then it’s all just BS talk
Sigh! I guess living life with “too much time” on their hands isn’t only a lefty thing.
But then of course, I took the time to read it and comment.
Double Sigh!!
Eye-opening view on the movie thats new to me. Thank you!
Bailey was doing what Democrats did with the Community Reinvestment Act, and community organizers then shamed banks with. But, credit can not be safely extended on any basis other than risk, and risk can not be mitigated through social engineering. So, we got the sub-prime mortgage crisis and then the, what, $700 billion bailout?
What Bailey did was fine as a private enterprise effectively providing charity. But, any loss would be and should be the enterprises alone.
You know, I too have watched the movie over and over again and not once did I take his wish to have never been born to mean he wished he had been aborted.
I am only guessing, as abortion was not the hot bed social issue at the time of the filming, if one really studied the premise they might come up with the conclusion that having “never been born” came as the result of no conception.
Strange how the mind works and how much social issues cloud judgement.
“In other words, if not those individuals, then other individuals would play similar roles in history.”
True, but it’s always an “individual” with those characteristic that ends up shaping history. (As opposed to to the masses). And it seems that regardless of the condition the world is in there will always arise such an individual (the leader) who is sufficiently “triggered” to be moved to mobilize the masses to impose his will, (for better or worse).
I rather believe the writer was simply putting random thoughts down for the sole benefit of being able to turn in a column that was in any way connected to Christmas.
The reason for the writer’s thinking is not even making sense.
One does not dislike a life affirming work simply because of dealing with women who consistently approve pro-death policies.
Something else is going on in the article.
Seriously? Ever been to the border? Mexico?
This is a poster from what, misunderstood American Patriots?
Have no idea where ya live, sport. But I'm from the border, got relatives in that country and from that country, and I can safely tell you they want the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo overthrown, all US immigration laws shredded, the English language replaced by Spanish, and the land "repatriated" to Mexico....which they are taught as having been stolen from them, which is a joke.
If that isn't hating the existence of America and Americans, what is?
many, many, many, many, more leftards would be infesting America
Abortion, while a huge problem, is not the root of our problems. It is only a form of birth control. Now, birth control was supposed to decrease abortion, but it hasn’t. It has made abortion more acceptable.
I'll admit you really blindsided me there. This is a complete fabrication on your part.
You're dealing with an old woman here. I am not, and have never been, an advocate of judicial executions. Nor (in my long and checkered career since the early 1970's as a La Leche leader, an educator, a staffer of a women's homeless shelter, and a prison ministry volunteer) have I neglected the well-being of people after they are born.
On the contrary, prolife people -- and I am the least among them ---are some of the most dedicated workers in our communities for the longterm thriving of men/women/children, families, and people struggling for a dignified life.
You apparently don't know any prolife people. If you did, you would not engage in such rash judgment, which means judging and defaming people with insufficient evidence, with no evidence,or against the evidence.
It doesn't matter about me, but there are at least dozens of pro-life people on this whole Free Republic forum to whom you owe a re-evaluation and a retraction.
In fact, in any Pregnancy services center I've ever heard of, the Center staff never "terminates" the relationship with the mother. It's the woman herself who at some point decides, "Bye, and Thanks so much, I'm OK now."
And they do all this for free. Thousands of these centers all over the USA, Canada and beyond, giving tens of millions of dollars' worth of services to women, babies, and young families so they can "Choose Life" with security and digity. Thought you'd like to see these Christmas greetings from just one of them, the Abortion Alternatives/Crisis Pregnancy Center in Bristol, TN:

In this case, what would’ve happened to a given TOWN without a specific person. In the “alternate universe” of this film, they laid out exactly what would’ve happened without someone to counteract Potter from buying up the town and not providing loans to build new housing. Imagine certain left-wingers not having been born or brought to power, how different would a place be today ?
The thing is, had person Y not done that role, person X would be doing it.
Imagine that heartless, corrupt Pelosi were not Speaker of the House. Some other corrupt, heartless person would be in that place. It is unlikely that whoever holds that role would be any better than Pelosi.
And that’s the thing about “It’s A Wonderful Life.” It assumes that the only key element in the town is George, but in reality, someone else would have performed that particular function and the town would have changed little.
But George Bailey WAS the key element. The presumption was that absent George, his heroic younger brother (the war hero) would’ve stepped up to take over the family S&L and stood up to Potter. But that couldn’t happen, because with no George, the younger brother would’ve drowned in the sledding accident on the pond (and everything that flowed from that).
The Pelosi comparison is partly apples and oranges, because we’re talking about a modest-sized town vs. an entire nation. However, even Pelosi owes her career to the deaths of two of her predecessors from that San Francisco district (that of Phil and Sala Burton — and Phil himself was on track to the Speakership), so removing one person from the equation can have that cascading effect (good or bad). Phil Burton, of course, was infamous for gerrymandering a voting majority of Republicans (as CA was at the time) into a minority of seats. If Republicans tried to do what he did with a voting Dem majority, the latter would have judges on speed-dial to undo it by fiat. But that’s another story.
I want to live Clarence....I want to live!
