Well, jumping into the Presidential race as a small town mayor was a kooky move, but it does make sense from a certain perspective. He isn’t going to become a Governor or Senator from IN. He could try for a House seat but the Dem Rep from the South Bend area has been in office since 1985, so he’d probably have to wait for him to die or retire.

So where do you go from there if you don’t want to be stuck as Mayor? He tried for DNC chair but lost probably because nobody had ever heard of him. Well, he’ll lose the Presidential primary, but now, when he runs for some other DNC position, or bucks for an appointment in the next Dem administration, at least people will know who he is so he’s got a chance.
