Maybe we need a new amendment to make sure this never happens again. First time I’ve ever thought the Founders were short sighted.

The impeachment is about the depth and breadth of liberal elite hatred... for Trump and for the 65 million people who elected President Trump.

They will not be punished. They will all be re-elected.

We are living in a dual country now. Leftists wholly support anything that weakens the rightists and will do anything to stop any resistance to them.

The Dems will lose a seat or three over impeachment but you are basically right. The most likely outcome of all this in November 2020 is exactly what he have now. A Dem House, Trump in the WH and a GOPe controlled Senate by a few votes. I expect the GOP will lose the Senate in 2022, though, without POTUS on the ticket to carry them.

If McConnell had any balls, he would have the Senate address the charges and vote to acquit before Christmas Day.

I think he should hold the Senate in session and vote on it tonight a half hour after the House does their vote!

“If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, OR to destroy by force the Government of the United States......SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY”

Exactly what the President has said this is

“A FRIVOLOUS impeachment vote is a SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY”

The Senate shouldn’t even take it up. Ignore it. What are the Dems gonna do? stamp their feet?

McConnell should throw a press conference..with a big trashcan present to throw the “articles” of impeachment into it

Q. So after the vote what is the process for it to go to the Senate? Or is there even a process? In other words can the Democrats “hold it” in the House? (until, for example, more damaging info is leaked to the press on Trump)

Apparently the Dems are looking for something like that to postpone. If Mitch is likely to acquit in 2-3 days the narrative for the Dems is over and the new narrative is that they rushed to judgement to convict when there was no crime - bad set up for November.

I read on C-Span that the debate will take all day, with a 6:30 PM anticipated window for the final votes.

I don’t agree splitting is the answer.

People NEVER agree. You can put two people in a room and sooner or later they will find something to disagree about. Unless you plan on being the only member of your new country, you will find someone opposed to you someday. To create a totally “unified” country would require an totalitarian government to keep everyone on the same page. How long until people tired of that?

You can’t continually split and subdivide and avoid problems. Better would be to teach them a lesson with a rebellious smackdown like Thomas Jefferson suggested.

Clyburn is addressing, “... this ‘AUgust’ body” not an “AuGUST” body. Does he not know we’re in December? Does he know the meaning of the word? I guess his writer didn’t note how the word is pronounced.
