Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz said Wednesday that he found no evidence the FBI wiretapped anyone other than former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page in connection with the Russia investigation.
Horowitz’s comments at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing refuted a series of tweets sent by President Trump in March 2017 in which he claimed that Obama had his “wires tapped” at Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign.
“Did your investigation identify any evidence President Obama ordered the FBI to tap Donald Trump’s phone?” asked Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), after citing Trump’s tweets from 2017.
“We didn’t find any evidence the FBI had tapped any other phones or anything else other than the FISA that we addressed,” Horowitz responded, referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to surveil Page.
Trump tweeted in March 2017 that he “[j]ust found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory,” calling it “terrible.”
”Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” Trump wrote.
Trump has claimed that the FBI improperly “spied” on his campaign in 2016, and railed against the bureau during a campaign rally in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday evening.

Why didn’t they ask if Trump’s phones were tapped? That, not the narrow question of Obama’s involvement, is the real question.
Exactly. I doubt he would find direct evidence that hussein ORDERED the wiretapping.. They should also ask why POTUS wanted to be kept in the loop.
Well, as the IG investigation was mostly about asking people what they did, the fact they found no evidence really is meaningless — they were not looking for any OTHER evidence.
On the other hand, I was pretty sure that we confirmed years ago that one of the computers in trump tower was in fact being monitored in connection with some european bank.

Horowitz has been investigating the Carter Page FISA warrant process, not what was done by the overall IC or even the FBI in other contexts. The IG report is based on skillful inconvenient evidence avoidance.
I think we have known for a long time that Trump says stuff that isn’t literally true. He loves to talk, and usually there is some kernel of truth somewhere, but this is just how things are.

We now know without a shadow of a doubt that Carter Page working for the CIA when the FBI went to the FISA court and got a warrant to spy on him. I hope Hannity finally figures it out. Page was setting Trump up.
Why has he never charged by Mueller? Because then he’d have to spill the beans.

I think the big picture is this. From day one… of this investigation on July 31st, 2016, and all the way to its end in September 2017, there was not one bit of incriminatory evidence to come in. It was all exculpatory … So what happens? The FBI ignores it and presses ahead. Withholds… critical exculpatory information from the [FISA] Court while it gets an electronic surveillance warrant. It withholds from the Court clear-cut evidence that the dossier that they ultimately relied on to get the FISA warrant, was a complete sham. They hid information about the lack of reliability even the first time they went for a warrant but in January after the election, the entire case collapsed after the principal source says “I never told Steele this stuff.”
... At that point, when their entire case collapsed, what do they do? They kept on investigating the president well into his administration… But here to me is the damning thing. They not only didn’t tell the court that what they were relying on was completely rubbish, they actually started putting in things to bolster the Steele report by saying, “Well, we talked to the sources and they appear to be truthful. But don’t inform the court that what they’re truthful about is that the dossier is false.”

So “the Hill” are you saying the New York Times article, published Inauguration Day 2017 laying out the wiretapping by the FBI on the Trump Campaign, that was part of the justification for Democrats demanding the Muller investigation, was a lie?
Or is the IG lying to cover up the DOJ/FBI’s corruption now?
