Lindsey Graham does not want Schiff or other Congressmen to testify at Senate impeachment trial

What’s really going on here is Graham is despicably floating the idea of the GOP controlled Senate not allowing POTUS to defend himself in the Senate.

Well, that's speculation on your end. If Graham does end up not letting Trump defend himself, then I will condemn him at that point. But that hasn't happened yet.

It probably should be noted that Graham has expressly endorsed the idea of investigating the Bidens. He's been one of the most aggressive Republicans in pushing that idea. So I question your inference that he's really trying to prevent Trump from defending himself.

But like I said, when and if he does take that position, he would deserve to be condemned.

I've seen plenty of witnesses who will answer your question by going off and talking about something completely different. That's especially true if they're worried about getting boxed in by their answer.

Normally, you can count on a trial judge to force them to answer the question as asked because the judge will threaten contempt, etc.. But I sincerely doubt that Roberts is going to run a rigid "courtroom", especially when it comes to the testimony of a member of Congress who is just a witness is an ultimately political process.

So, my point is that the normal tools for controlling a witness are not going to be there, and that's going to be doubly true if the Senate calls Schiff. Threats of contempt, etc., just won't work because Schiff knows they wouldn't be enforced. That's why I wouldn't call him. I think he'd be an uncontrollable witness who would refuse to answer or dodge any tough questions, and his smug face would be the lead story on the networks.

I wouldn't give him that chance.

Legally, all senators are jurors.

Legally, how can Lindsey, by himself, stop the Trump defense from any tactic they choose?

Witnesses in a trial being CROSSED-EXAMINED are mainly asked yes and no questions, then at times, are directed to elaborate. Being under oath and required to answer at least 100 or so questions dealing with Schiff, staff members, and personnel attorneys being in contact with the "whistleblower" before, during, and after claims were made does not give you ANY room "to give speeches".

Keep in mind, this is just one part that would be exploited while getting to the bottom of this whole matter.

Again, Graham is protecting the Statist class and the "reputation of Congress" that is all. Answer me this Graham defenders, why are the ranking members of the HOR Intelligence and Justice Committees hell bent at requiring Schiff testify?

Actually a trial in the senate just gives credence to the House impeachment proceedings. A quick vote dismissing the whole thing is not a bad idea. Then the GOP can go out and start trashing the impeachment on all the cable talk shows.
