Lindsey Graham does not want Schiff or other Congressmen to testify at Senate impeachment trial
American Thinker ^ | December 9, 2019 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 12/09/2019 5:27:52 AM PST by george76

Is the ghost of John McCain haunting Senator Lindsey Graham? .. He wants to leave all those rocks in place, turning nothing over to see what crawls out. Instead, once the House managers present their case, he wants a quick vote...

In particular, Graham ruled out calling Adam Schiff to testify.

...

This is absolutely the wrong way to go. With only one side presenting evidence, and the Senate voting along party lines (with the possibility that Mitt Romney or Lisa Murkowski joining the Dems and Joe Manchin joining the GOP bloc), the Democrats will have succeeded in their goal of dirtying-up Trump in the highest-visibility forum possible, a Senate trial, with no counterpunching.

...

What could be going on?

Graham himself claims that he wants to get rid of this spectacle as soon as possible because it is harming the nation. He tells Trump, “If the Senate is ready to vote, and ready to acquit you, you should celebrate.”

Sorry, but I don’t buy this logic. Senate trial would be a blessing, offering the chance to put on the spot Hunter and Joe Biden, the whistleblower who is a leaker, his attorney Zaid who announced impeachment was underway right after the inauguration, and other plotters.

...

These comments by Senator Lindsey Graham are very self serving. Why?… Because Senator Graham participated in the exploitation of Ukraine for his own benefit. In essence Graham is fearful that too much inquiry into what took place with Ukraine in 2014 through 2016 will expose his own participation and effort along with former Ambassador Marie Yovanovich.

Graham is attempting to end the impeachment effort because the underlying discoveries have the potential to expose the network of congressional influence agents, John McCain and Graham himself included, during any witness testimony.

“Because Senator Graham participated in the exploitation of Ukraine..”
That must be why Linda has been waffling on these cases. The Prez cannot trust any of these crooks.

Here goes Linda Graham ready to let the lying democrats off the hook. He must be hiding something in Ukrain too. He wants to give the democrats a victory while he claims he was helping the president and country. South Carolina needs to get rid of the spineless coward.

The goal is not for President Trump to dodge some bullet and avoid removal by having the Senate end the farce.
The goal is to drain the swamp.

People need to be held accountable.
Don’t sweep things under the rug. It’s not helpful.

I actually think this is a good move. I don’t think putting Schiff in front of a microphone is a good idea. It may sound nice in theory to hammer him with questions, but he won’t answer them directly and will just keep hitting his own narrative. And hte press would love nothing more than to show Schiff repeating their themes rather than putting on the testimony of other witnesses.

Don’t hold your breath on that. Graham sees the support Rip Van Sessions is getting from much of the GOP base. He no doubt will do the minimum required in support of POTUS.

I watched Graham on Fox yesterday, and realized his eagerness to SHUT DOWN talk of a Senate trial was TOTALLY self-serving!
It was obvious the LAST thing he wants is anyone like Schiff, Brennan, Clapper, etc. being questioned by fellow Republican senators!

God this party - GOP - deserves to die a horrible death. Trump needing Republicans is the only thread holding them from the plunge into the abyss.

No Lindsay. We want a quick dismissal, but AFTER evidentiary hearings in the Judiciary Committee to expose these traitorous crooks for what they are. We want to see the cabal behind this twist in the wind. We want Shiffty cross-examined by the finest lawyers in the country. We want to see the horror in the eyes of the whistleblower as he faces tough questioning about who his friends are and who he heard what from whom. And we want Nancy to testify and the Wadler.

Then you can move for quick dismissal for failure to state a claim.

“I don’t think putting Schiff in front of a microphone is a good idea.”

If he would tell the truth I’d be for it, but he NEVER tells the truth, and his position gives him immunity for lying. It would be a waste of time.

Not treated as a hostile witness with a good lawyer and a good judge he won't.

The corruption is in both Parties and nobody wants it exposed. There are lots of Hunter Bidens in DC.

Schiff is a red herring here. He’s already said he won’t testify in the Senate.

What’s really going on here is Graham is despicably floating the idea of the GOP controlled Senate not allowing POTUS to defend himself in the Senate. Defend that if you want. I won’t be.

I heard this and said to myself, WTF.

What do you have to hide lil Juan? AND then to say that PDJT should put this to rest asap, better for him and better for the country.

NO, asap would only benefit the demoncrats and RINOS.

WE THE PEOPLE want to know and bring to justice these coup leaders.

Not sweep the schifft under the rug AGAIN....

We want justice, we demand justice. Maybe we should be handing out our own form of justice if these pussie Republicans cannot stand up for us.

Don’t give a care want Graham wants! If the President wants to call Schiff he should. He is the one on trial not Graham!

The goal of the GOP is to lose the Senate so the GOP is back in minority party status. It doesn’t want to be too obvious in seeking this, but lackadaisical support for Trump is part of the calculus.

That said, the Senate is the worst venue in the world for getting to the truth, and Trump can be acquiited without exposing Schiff’s malfeasance (in cooperation with leaker Ciamarella and IC IG Atkinson).

Grahamnesty is going to keep being Grahamnesty until GOP voters hold the GOP as an institution responsible for its role in the coup. Only when the coup enabling GOP is burned to the ground and a viable MAGA third party exists will these useless beltway sewer rats change their behavior.

I disagree. I believe it makes no difference in the end if their is a trial with witnesses called or simply a quick vote to aquit. In either case Trump wins and gets to brag on all his social acct and his 100 million followers that he has beaten Pelosi and the Democrats once again.

As for the Liberals “dirtying up” the president, they have been doing that for over 3 yrs and to little effect.

I would like to see a trial and the proper witnesses called and questioned under oath but in the end the outcome is the same in my opinion.

A down vote without a trial in the Senate would provide Dems a talking point of “coverup”. Trial. Expose it all.
