New food stamp rules will save taxpayers $5.5 billion over 5 years DECEMBER 5, 2019 BY SHARYL ATTKISSON 2 COMMENTS

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or “Food Stamps” A new food stamp rule taking effect April first will save U.S. taxpayers $5.5 billion over five years, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which administers food stamps.

Food stamps or the “SNAP” program gave the average recipient household about $250 a month in 2018. Food stamps are funded with tax dollars.

According to the government, 40 million Americans were on food stamps in 2018. In 2017, a little over 9% of households received food stamps at some point and about 16% of all children received food stamps.

Under the new rule, most states will no longer be able to exempt food stamp recipients from work requirements.

The work requirements state that adults under age 50 who have no children and are able-bodied must work a minimum of 20 hours a week for more than three months over three years to qualify for food stamps.

Food stamp work requirements: If you…

Are an adult under age 50 Have no children Are not disabled

Then you…

Must work at least 20 hours a week For more than three months Over a three year period Even though most states will no longer be able to offer exemptions of the rules, some exceptions will be allowed. States with high unemployment rates, 6% or more, will still be allowed to give food stamps to able-bodied, childless adults who haven’t worked in three years.

The national unemployment rate has been at or near all time lows for blacks, Hispanics and women. It was 3.6% in October.

The SNAP economy:
SNAP recipient( 2 1/2 kids) takes $600 card (per month)and gives it and the pin to his drug dealer.
Receives $300 drugs for which the dealer paid $200.

Dealer sends stooge to buy $600 of snack food/drinks and deliver it to local store that pays $400 for it.
Stooge gets $50.

For his $200 drug buy the dealer nets $350.

Next month the cycle repeats.

It is these types of cuts in our extravagant welfare system that must occur throughout government, if we ever hope to dent the massive national debt.

I must be a dumbass too. I did not know a single man under 50, who was not disabled, could collect welfare via food stamps.

It’s all well and good but by limiting it to those without children you’re skipping 98% of the problem. The vast majority of this money pit called SNAP is siphoned off by unwed mothers that have children specifically for the welfare benefits. These expansive benefits don’t go to help the children but toward the high life for their con artist mothers.

Rephrase -
Over a 3 year period -
you must have at least 3 months total work -
where you worked at least 20 hours in (12) 1 week periods.

This means that -
over a 156 week period -
you must work at least 12 weeks -
for at least 20 hours during each of those weeks.

Better explanation?

Can any of you people on this website, from all over the United States, truly tell me how many people you know, personally, are TRULY starving. Not the mentally ill or druggies, just so damned destitute they can’t get to a church, the Salvation Army, or wherever? I would REALLY like to have a tally. Even those sick physically are taken in by hospitals, hospices, etc. Yet the GD government gets it’s fingers in the pie. Why, hhhhmmmmmm?

Fencing is alive and well! Food stamps are cashed in at local bodegas in inner cities for real cash and drugs.

When you take deadbeats off the food stamp rolls, it benefits two ways — less burden on taxpayers, and more workers contributing to the commonwealth.

Switch back to food stamps can only be used for US farmer originated base goods (powdered milk and eggs, sugar, cheese, flour, rice, vegetable oil, etc) purchased and distributed by the FedGov. Like back in the 1960’s. You don’t go to the distribution center, you go hungry. Special cases for delivery would be set up.
