What a crock....we are upside down with Germany like we were with every one else. It would be a short war. They don’t pay their share for NATO either!!!

I didn’t realize we owned Germany’s energy market.
************************************
Germany and Russia are both sovereign nations just as we are, if it’s in their interests to build a pipeline it’s their business just as it is our business if Canada and the US decide it’s in our interest to build pipelines.

This backstabber. Has he not noticed that Trump needs solid support about now? Damned low life.

So wait....we are supposed to pay for Germany’s defense...via NATO...against Russian aggression...only to have the Germans tie their energy dependence to the Russians???

Of course we should push back....or get the hell out of NATO. Having the Germans become energy dependent on the group we are paying tons of money to defend them against is absolutely stupid.

I’m surprised that people here don’t get that.

“Germany and Russia are both sovereign nations just as we are, if it’s in their interests to build a pipeline it’s their business just as it is our business if Canada and the US decide it’s in our interest to build pipelines.”

Its their business....except for the fact that we enable the Germans to do this buy providing troops and defense spending (via NATO) to prevent aggression from the Russians.

If we weren’t in the middle of a pact that they aren’t upholding their portion of (NATO), I would tend to agree...but that’s not the case.

“” “” I’m no Cruz supporter. What I think Cruz is concerned about is that Germany will convert all their coal fired power plants to natural gas. Which will make Germany very vulnerable to extortion if an aggressive Russia threatens to cut off all supply of nat. gas during a conflict.
All eggs in one basket theory. Largest economy in Europe subject to the whims of Moscow (Putin). Not good.”” “”

That’s too complicated. I bet some of his affiliates are 9n board of some energy company. Follow the money.

That is the reason the Ukraine is so important, they have the huge natural gas reserves Western Europe need, and Germany gets over a third of energy needs from the Ukraine and they have to have that new pipeline. SO let them have it.

Check his Twitter. It’s there. Just two I could quickly find, but there is definitely more:

Senator Ted Cruz
@SenTedCruz
· Nov 27
Excellent to see @realDonaldTrump #StandWithHongKong & sign the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, which includes my bill calling for reevaluating privileges for #HongKong in light of encroachments on HK’s autonomy by the Chinese Communist Party.

and

Washington Examiner
@dcexaminer
·
Nov 15
“No, the President’s tweeting is not ‘witness intimidation.’... it’s absurd to suggest that tweeting is an impeachable ‘high Crime [or] Misdemeanor.’”

@TedCruz
calls @AdamSchiff
‘s claims about Trump’s tweets “ridiculous”

XXXXXXXXX

But of course this is “lyin’ Ted” right? That’s all I ever heard from this forum during the election. So thankful I live in Texas.

“I didn’t realize we owned Germany’s energy market.”

The US has spent billions of dollars defending Germany and the EU, all while they spend billions of dollars that Putin then puts into weapon’s research aimed at...Germany and the EU.

This is one of the few levers that Cruz, in his current position, can push to change the problem he sees. Give him credit for trying.

No. Ukraine is important because it is a duspuptor of Russian gas trade with Europe and all the related pork for all involved.
German pipeline is bad because it puts end of it and allegedly a competition to US LNG sales but the latter is more like a ruse and a plausible explanation.

The hearing with Nadler was yesterday and the day before. I was expecting something more than support from 2 weeks ago.

Well Ted, Russia’s government isn’t actively committing genocide against it’s population like Germany is, maybe you should think things through.

the funny part is germany wrecked half its energy production when merkel formed a coalition with the greens to stay in power. As a precondition they demanded she shut down all their nuclear power plants, which they did.

They replaced them with dirty coal plants, so very green

This is really simple.

- Trump is at a NATO summit.
- America spend billions defending Germany from a Russian attack as a NATO ally.
- So what sense does it make for Germany to buy gas from Russia?

Cruz has brought this up before.

Maybe we can close some bases in Germany and send our men where they aren’t put in harm’s way of German-funded Russian artillery.
