Four climate activists on hunger strike have pledged to continue going without food for a second week as they call on political leaders to act on the environmental crisis.

More than 520 people in 28 countries, from Barcelona to Stockholm, joined Extinction Rebellion’s global hunger strike a week ago.

Most of them - including at least 260 in the UK - signed up to go without food for seven days, but four of those in London say they intend to continue.

In the UK, protesters camped outside the headquarters of the main political parties, including 83-year-old Ursula Pethick.

After five days, another hunger striker, Steven Hollies, tweeted: “I am noticeably more lethargic this morning. I feel thin and hollow.” And by day six he added he was even more tired.

Two weeks? That ended on Thanksgiving? Such commitment. Now, if millions of eco-freaks would starve themselves for a year or more, they could be on to something.

I’ve been experiencing global warming and climate change lately with tons of snow. I’m sick of it already.

It’s like they’re saying to politicians, “if you don’t do what I say, I’m going to starve myself!” Buncha babies

PR stunt. Cut off their water, it'll be over in three days. Thanks Libloather.

I commend these climate activists for reducing their carbon footprint in this way, and trust that they will continue unstintingly until it has reached zero.

I just finished the 5th week of my food & water hunger strike, to demand that world leaders ignore the environment and pave the Amazon.

Only by beating my strike record, will anyone listen to them.

They are still breathing my air and after they die microbes will continue to release CO2 from their bodies. They need to take their protest off planet.

In other news, man fasts for 382 days, achieves healthy weight.

Personally I went without eating for 2 weeks once (hospitalized, internal bleeding). Lost 10 pounds, came out fine, watched stupid number of cooking shows.

Choosing to starve for a stupid reason does not impress nor motivate me. Whining about it at 2 weeks gets extra contempt.

There’s strength in numbers. Can’t they get 500 “climate activists” to join them? Better yet, how about 100,000?
