The Trayvon Hoax Shines a Light on the 'Fake News' Industry
American Thinker.com ^ | November 27, 2019 | Brian C. Joondeph

Big media balks at the term "fake news," insisting that they honestly and accurately report the news of the day. Those paying attention to the news can cite numerous examples of fake news, either deliberate misinformation or laziness on the part of reporters.

Joel Gilbert, in his book and film of the same name, The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America, describes one of the biggest examples of “fake news” in modern times: that the prosecution’s key witness in the trial of George Zimmerman was in imposter.

Joel demonstrated a long-lost art, investigative journalism, and he did it in a fun, entertaining, and easily readable manner. Unlike cable news gabbers who get their talking points from echo chamber left-wing distributions networks, Joel examined phone records, photos, and yearbooks. He pounded the pavement, knocked on doors and actually talked to people.

Once upon a time this was called gumshoe journalism, walking around, investigating, putting in actual effort. Modern journalists only use their thumbs, checking Twitter feeds and reporting tweets as verified news.

Gilbert’s film, aside from debunking the Trayvon Martin hoax, demonstrated how journalism used to be done. He gave a class in how to be a reporter, in contrast to the shoddy blather that now passes for journalism.

It’s kind of pathetic that even going to this length, substituting for their star witness a fraud who would say anything, the prosecution still couldn’t get a conviction.

I mean, if you are going to be corrupt and betray every fundamental ethical principle of your office, at least don’t be incompetent too.

It’s over and over again... Ferguson, MO, when the media doesn’t shut down the “hands up, don’t shoot” lie, they’re complicit in the lie. Same with the high school kids accosted by the “native American activist,” professional victim.

The NY Slimes needs to change its motto. “All the ‘news’ that fits our narrative.”

The complicit media kept showing a picture of Trayvon at about age 12 or 14. Looked like a decent kid in that photo.

I remember seeing—only for a very short time period-—a picture of 17 year old Trayvon-—flashing a gang sign & looking FAR more menacing.

THAT pic didn’t stay on the media blather.

Today the complicit media will admit that Hunter Biden was paid “50K per month” as a board member for Burisma. Problem is that the records now show that he was paid $83,333 per month. And yet they continue to lazily report the old number. Unless they have a reason to deliberately repeat the incorrect number...

This is what Soros’ organizations have wrought. Complete and utter lies being promoted by all his paid-off media and deepstate mouthpieces, resulting in destruction of lives and property.

And yet they continue to lazily report the old number.

Some FR Catholics bandy about the number 30,000 or 50,000 or even 80,000 when trying to say how many Protestant denominations there are.

I’ll need more evidence before i can believe that they substituted Jeantel for the real witness. If you were picking someone else to be a fake witness, you’d never have picked that woman, who was a disaster.

WOW indeed!

At least; if we start to talk about various, differing groups that call the Book of Mormon Scripture; we can compile a LIST of most them.

With the Mormons (to be precise, the members of The Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - based in Salt Lake City) intent on being called “Christians” after so many years of eschewing that word, and despite the fact that there are so many fundamental theological differences between Christianity and Mormonism, I often wonder:

How do members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints feel about calling the members of its various spin-off sects Latter-Day Saints, Christians, or Mormons? Or about those sects calling themselves Mormons or Latter-Day Saints? (There was an earlier campaign by LDS to have journalism style books use the word “Mormon” to refer only to LDS, and not RLDS, FLDS, or other LDS sects).

For a man who bragged about holding things together, Joseph Smith, Jr. doesn’t appear go have done a good job of it during his lifetime. Wycam Clark’s “Pure Church of Christ” spun off in 1831. This trend continued. There were six LDS sects spawned in the 1830s, eight in the 1840s, two in the 1850s, and seven in the 1860s.

Do those responsible for the “Mormons are Christians” campaign consider these denominations to be Mormons or Latter-Day Saints? Surely many of these denominations are much closer to mainstream LDS than LDS is to Christianity. Many stick to Smith’s teachings and old temple endowment ceremonies.

Are members of those LDS groups “Mormons”? “Latter Day Saints?” “Christians?”

Do the folks in Salt Lake City have a problem with any of those groups, who believe in the restoration of the original church by Joseph Smith, calling themselves Mormons or Saints?

Most of these divisions in the Latter Day Saint movement occurred over the issue of polygamy or succession of the Prophet. Sects broke off when Joseph Smith was still alive, and when Brigham Young was named prophet, because they didn’t believe in the practice of plural marriage – either publicly, or in some cases when it was practiced in private and denied in public.

Of course, there was the great split between Rocky Mountain Saints and Prairie Saints, when LDS members couldn’t agree on a successor prophet to Smith, Jr., and the church went to Utah, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania under Brigham Young, Sidney Rigdon (senior member of the First Presidency), James Strang, Lyman Wight, Alpheus Cutler, William Smith, David Whitmer (a BOM witness), or Joseph Smith III (son of Joseph Smith, Jr.). Almost all of these individuals still has multiple sects in existence that date to an 1844 decision about who should be the next President/Prophet of the church.

The Prairie Saints split into sects over the issue of whether Smith practiced polygamy. Rocky Mountain Saints had many, many spinoff sects after the 1890 Manifesto – groups that still practice plural marriage.

“The Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”

If your church does nothing other than help others with tithes and donations you have no need to have a company registered with the government.
Check and see what your church’s ligal tital is.

The Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the ligal arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Because of for tax businesses, there are airplane loads of relief supplies ready to go. Just like after WW 2 the Church had train car loads of relief supplies ready ro go when needed, it is continued today.

It comes from careful stewardship of God’s bounty. Knowning when to plant “sead corn”, and when to harvest. Package and store ready to ship at the time it is needed. Today “crops” are also businesses that make money.

There are a few other churches that are forword looking enough to do the same. Is yours one of them?

Let us look at your sound bite. Add the verse after we see how you tryed to turn a truth into a lie.

Matthew 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

alms
/ä(l)mz/
plural

1.
(in historical contexts) money or food given to poor people:
“the riders stopped to distribute alms”
Powered by Oxford Dictionarie

__ __

Alms and physical service are two different things in this context. The yellow t-shirts are to help in a job that needs coordination and safty. If you ever went with a group to help a disaster clean up you would understand this. Anything that improves your ability to help without injury is good.

Given your history of poseting not Elsie stuff, I believe that you will use the yellow t-shirt again.

Joseph Smith managed to turn a lie into 'truth'; so I'm merely trying to RECTIFY his (let's be kind) mistake.

Besides; shouldn't we be looking at the whole context?

Matthew 6:1-5

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Does your church have any businesses other then inhouse book stores, so you can multiple your stewardship?

As far as I know, we have no large cattle farms or anything like that being run by the 'church'; thereby saving a LOT of money in taxes.

The Wesleyan Church was founded in 1968 when the Wesleyan Methodist Church and the Pilgrim Holiness Church merged. The new denomination was shaped by the Wesleyan Methodists’ appreciation for structure combining with the Pilgrims’ entrepreneurial spirit.

The holy blaze in the hearts of Wesleyans caught fire in 18th century England with a Church of England priest, John Wesley, who called upon Christian believers to commit to a life of holiness and the study of God’s Word. Our name “Wesleyan” honors him.

Wesley was an outstanding Oxford scholar, yet regarded himself as “a man of one book,” the Bible. It was while studying the Bible that Wesley received assurance of his salvation through faith. It was the Bible that motivated his vision for offering Christ to the common people of England and which eventually led to the nation’s greatest spiritual revival.

Biblical truth inspired Wesley to develop a school for orphans, job programs and medical assistance for the poor, efforts to reform inhumane prisons and arguments for the abolition of slavery. Confidence in the Bible as “the only and sufficient rule for Christian faith and practice” (to use Wesley’s own words) remains a hallmark of The Wesleyan Church today.

It was in 1843 that our leaders organized to address social issues through The Wesleyan Methodist Connection of America. Wesleyans were one of the first denominations in America to ordain women and were at the forefront of giving laity significant roles in church leadership.

The movement spread like wildfire as passionate Wesleyans began to radically apply their faith to every area of their life and communities, leading to reformations in education, culture, and governments.

Wesleyan groups in both England and North America openly opposed slavery, called for women’s rights, and stood up against child labor atrocities.

This distinct call to holiness and witness bound Wesleyans together as a diverse family of multiple nationalities, races, languages, and cultures. Members of The Wesleyan Church continue to be catalysts for individual and social transformation.

Learn more about our history in the Wesleyan archives.
