What’s behind Liz Warren’s humiliating retreat on ‘Medicare for All’?
NY Post ^ | November 18 2019 | Rich Lowry

The clear loser of the Democratic primary is Medicare for All.

First, the policy demonstrated the unreliability of Kamala Harris out of the gate, when she endorsed it before quickly backing off. Now, it has blunted the momentum of Elizabeth Warren, made a mockery of her claim to be an uber-wonk and shredded her implicit appeal to Bernie Sanders supporters as an equally committed left-winger without the baggage.

Under pressure for weeks for details related to her version of the proposal, Warren has now backed all the way down to promising to pass Medicare for All by the end of the third year of her presidency.

Never happen. I mean it was always DOA. It seemed too good to be true - until people looked at the price tag and balked.

Always fun playing with OPM until you discover they won’t hand over the cash. So much for MFA.

I guess that Wampum magic has reached its limit on the credulous.

Maybe the fact that it’ll cost $1 billion, gagillion, trillion, zillion dollars...perhaps. The liberal puppet master, billionaires, Rockerfeller’s, Rothschild’s, Morgan’s, DuPont’s, et al, sent an emissary to tell her to STFU about getting all her money from the 1% of the 1% of the 1%. If she wants to make us middle class pog’s pay for it, that’ll be fine, but not those folks.

Limousine liberals are aren’t stupid. They’re not going to hand over their wealth for this kind of nonsense.

A millionaire or luxury taxes would never scoop up enough cash to pay for “free” health care.

Warren never did explain how average folks would benefit from paying taxes so illegals could see their doctors for free.

That particular group has their money tied up in offshore trusts, offshore gold, offshore _____. They are the people who file 1041’s? The chance of getting a significant sum of money from them is just about ZERO.

The Republicans could potentially talk about this in terms of the federal government’s limited Article 1 Section 8 powers, but that would not work either, since Republican governments have been violating those forever as well. Medicare itself is surely unconstitutional?

The union people, part of the Warren voting block, are not a uniform block, and certainly not uniformly on board with gun control and socialism. Most of the ones I work with here in Texas are loaded for bear and have fat 401k’s. She’s not getting their votes. President Trump *is* getting their votes.

They can’t and won’t take care of our veterans properly, yet, those whom break the law, are given unlimited health care. They just show up at the emergency room with a cold or an ear ache, and presto, free meds, free care, while we wait 7 - 12 hours in the waiting room for stitches, bleeding all over the place. So yeah, what could possible go wrong with the government in charge of healthcare?

My mother was a nurse at a major hispital. Sometimes I would drop by to see her. The easiest way to visit her would be to come in through the ER.

When I was younger there would be no one in the ER, maybe 2 pople. Then over the years I noticed that the whole ER was filled up with "Hispanics". I mean the ER was packed. Finally the hospital put up a sign that said if you are uninsured, in case of emergency, we will stabilize you and have you trasported to another hospital.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Warren has now backed all the way down to promising to pass Medicare for All by the end of the third year of her presidency.

So it sounds like she's saying that if she wins, even if the Dems carry the Senate in 2020, she'll be so unpopular that by 2022 the GOP will have the Senate and it won't pass.

The problem with using unworkable policy positions to attract zealots to work on one’s campaign is that no matter what you say your positions are later, your people will still try to push through the unworkable policy they have invested themselves in. People who see a candidate as a means to a political end are going to keep pushing for that political end.

I work in a hospital ER in southern NJ. Until Trump took office you’d think you were in Mexico half the time. No habla the English, no insurance, no nothing, treat me gringo. Now, thank God it’s not so bad. 25 years ago I worked in two other hospital ERs in the same area of NJ. It was NOTHING like it had been up till recently. It’ll change again however because Trump can’t be president for ever. What has changed however is something most Americans who don’t work in the health care field aren’t aware of and that is the staggering numbers of foreign doctors who work here. Fully 99% of the MDs in this hospital are all East Indian and Pakistani. Fully 95% of the nursing staff are all Filipino.

If the Democrats back off the progressive positions they assumed in order to gain progressive support, it is only because they want to use the voters the way they are using the progressives, except that they will later hire some of the progressives.

I blame the AMA for this problem. They intentionally limit the number of slots available for medical schools. In a sense it was a way to maintain a monopoly. Normally in a capitalist society supply and demand determine the allocation of resources. But it’s not limited to the medical field. In some states even hairdressers and beauticians are limited by onerous licensing procedure.

100% right. It was Buffet who said that his secretary pays more in taxes than he does. All of their wealth is protected. There’s a reason the IRS code 70,000 pages, +/-, they’re the ones that right it, so they can take advantage of it and use their puppets in Congress to pass the laws.

***The chance of getting a significant sum of money from them is just about ZERO.*** Right again, but a large majority of her target audience believes that these people will be taxed and 80% or more of their wealth will be handed over to the people to pay for everything. The Left, the ones that aren’t in the 1%, seemingly have not one clue about taxes, tax shelters, capital gains, etc etc etc etc and don’t know how easy it is for these folks to hide and protect their money(which I have no problem with, if those are the rules).

They think Warren will spread some fairy dust and all will be right with the world. They’ll be able to see the #1 orthopedic surgeon in the city when they need knee surgery. They’ll have all their student loans paid. They’re idiots.

Take 3:25 out of your day, if you can, and watch these geniuses. The ones that will eagerly vote for Warren if she somehow gets the nomination...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roeQHQSlIc8

Absolutely amazing that these people are so clueless yet allowed to vote. More and more I think that only a small handful of people should be allowed to vote: business owners, property/home owners, or those that have owned businesses/paid a mortgage in the past, and barring that, have to pass a test on Civics-the Constitution-basic tax code with at least a 90%...otherwise you’re not getting in the voting precinct.

More and more I think that only a small handful of people should be allowed to vote....

The young lady in the YouTube link you posted, who was asked how the government would pay for "free things", and answered "Well, some of it should come from taxes, but the government should pay for it." should be the first to lose her voting privilege.
