“unless the Rich became rich through crony capitalism, government largess, and corporate bribes to begin with.”
There probably would not be too many really rich if they didn’t do what you posted to become rich.
To be in the top 1% of net worth in the U.S. you have to have about $10 million. Someone in that bracket is a member of the club that is able to use their money to have the tax laws written for their advantage. They use various financial instruments like trusts, charitable foundations, etc. to avoid most taxes and keep their wealth. The often repeated saying by Warren Buffett is that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary. Of course he does! He and his billionaire buddies spent a lot of money buying congressmen to pass laws allowing them to hide from taxes. It’s not a coincidence that congressmen and senators are frequent fliers on their private jets and are in their private boxes at the Super Bowl. They’re not tossing those perks around from the good of their hearts and because they like their company.
The bottom 50% are the “useful idiots”. They’re practically exempt from most taxation because their value to the political class is their vote. They vote almost exclusively democrat because they know the more democrats they put in office the more free stuff they get, it’s as simple as that. People for the most part vote their pocketbook, if you’re getting free stuff from the government you’re going to vote for more of that. I call them useful idiots because they’re actually voting against their self interest, it’s like a crackhead that is killing himself with it but he can’t give it up because it feels so good. It’s against their self interest because long term it would be better for them to get married before having kids, get an education, get a job, and lift themselves out of poverty. The monthly government check just feels so much easier though and it’s tough to give up so they vote for someone like Obama that promises to keep it coming. The state of the economy doesn’t mean much to them because they don’t participate in it, who cares if there are jobs galore and the stock market is at an all time high if you don’t intend to ever get a job or own stocks? It’s far more important to keep the ever increasing government checks coming, you can talk until you’re blue in the face about the good economy and the bottom 50% don’t care, it’s not relevant in their world.
That leaves those in the 50%-99% bracket who are currently paying for most everything. We don’t have the political clout to keep the ever increasing taxes off our back, and we don’t get much of anything from the government till. We don’t have a “hook” of being an easily bought vote and we’re not going to funnel money to the kickback schemes of the Bidens, Cummings, Clintons and almost every other elected official out there today. We’re the nobodys, the ones that are just expected to shut up and keep our wallets open to be plundered. Some of us are getting fed up with that though, that’s why we elected Trump to hopefully put an end to it. I never thought, and I’ll bet Trump didn’t either, that threatening the entrenched corruption that defines our government would cause such a pushback. That was naive I’ll admit.
If your goal is to install a permanent autocracy that will morph into a monarchy, everything that destroys all of the forms of government are your tools.
Jonah Goldberg, jackass.
The billionaires persecute you: Koch bros, Buffett want open borders and serf wages. Gates wants higher taxes and abortions; Bezos lies continuously thru his Fake News megaphone; Bloomberg wants your guns and Slurpees; Soros hates you and wants you invaded and dead.
I’m not going to defend these scum.
You need help, now.
