Archaeologists have discovered large quantities of treasure, which may be called ‘Atlantean treasures,’ in ancient Minoan-era buildings in Crete. Excavations conducted this year by Lasithi Antiquities Ephorate on the western part of the islet Chryssi, a municipality of Ierapetra, eastern Crete, have unearthed an ancient Minoan settlement, which according to the Greek Ministry of Culture , supported a “flourishing economy” so advanced it had built stone tanks in which marine species were cultivated.

Some people deny that a cataclysmic occurrence led to the decline of Crete, but NOBODY leaves their gold and precious items of other types and just walks away forever.

Volcanos have a way of doing that.

Thera.

As a 1st quarter freshman I got permission to take an upper division “art history” course on the Aegean which satisfied the general history requirement. Turned out to be an archaeology course that covered Knossos and those who unlocked its mysteries. Ventris and Marinatos.

Saw a tv documentary about this. There are so many ways a volcano kills. There would of been very few, if any, survivors

Pretty weak tea.
...a gold ring, 26 golden beads, and a gold bracelet. There were also five copper bracelets and a copper ring; and among the heaps of glass beads four were colored "Egyptian blue" [calcium copper silicate] and 10 were crafted from lapis lazuli. An agate seal...
People using metal detectors have had much bigger finds. The rest of the booty may have been substantial, but was hauled off -- no volcano needed.

“What are you looking for?”

“I lost my watch in the bar.”

“Why are you looking around outside?”

“The light’s better here.”

Has anyone on here posted anything on here on the possibility the Richat Structure being the basis for Atlantis?

The Richat Structure is an impact crater that is many millions of years old, was buried for millions of years, and subsequently exposed by a long period of erosion. The idea that is Plato's Atlantis originated AFAIK with the loon who has the Bright Insight YT channel, but has caught on here and there, in the same way that Sitchin's "Twelfth Planet" (or closer to topic, in the same way that Atlantis was the Minoan Aegean) has.

I have always assumed that Atlantis was the mis-remembered Trojan war and Aristotle kind of realized that that is why the story seems to end quickly, etc. Though I don’t do any drugs I don’t mind getting trippy with speculation that the Richat structure was a natural formation that was used by Ice Age peoples during a green Sahara era.
