UC Berkeley instructor calls rural Americans 'bad people who have made bad life decisions’

Said they deserve 'uncomfortable' lives

A UC Berkeley graduate student and instructor took to Twitter on Wednesday to vent about his repulsion for rural Americans and why they deserve to live "uncomfortable" lives.

Jackson Kernion, a graduate student who has taught at least 11 philosophy courses at the university, posted that he "unironically embrace[s] the bashing of rural Americans."

"They, as a group, are bad people who have made bad life decisions," he said in the since-deleted tweet. "Some, I assume, are good people. But this nostalgia for some imagined pastoral way of life is stupid and we should shame people who aren't pro-city."

According to Campus Reform, the Twitter thread started with Kernion advocating against affordable health care solutions for rural Americans, saying that "Rural Healthcare Should be expensive! And that expense should be borne by those who choose rural America!"

"Same goes for rural broadband. And gas taxes," he argued. "It should be uncomfortable to live in rural America. It should be uncomfortable to not move."

Evidently Kernion believes that rural living Americans are purposely rejecting the more "efficient" city-dwelling life, and thus should bear the consequences of more expense.

Though Kernion may have been intending to make economic arguments for his beliefs, his tweets had quickly devolved into ad hominem attacks on rural Americans.

After facing some backlash, Kernion did seem to apologize for his tone, which he says came across as "way crasser and meaner" than he believes himself to be.

A bad life decision to me would be to live in proximity to any one of these A-holes.

A big FU from this rural American!
People in the country are generally hard working and honest.
People in the country are closer to nature which the liberals spout as a good thing for the climate and the planet in general.

Because HE lives in the ghetto, everyone should be forced to live in the ghetto.

Jackson Kernion

He must grow his own food and make his own clothes at Berkeley since he despises rural people so much...

You’ve gotta feel sorry for those foolish, ignorant, folks in Iowa and Nebraska. The only poop that they ever encounter in their lives is produced by the nearby dairy cattle while those lucky folks in San Francisco get to see human poop right there on every sidewalk.

An apparently big name leftist recently Tweeted a photo taken from a plane over Kansas. He marveled at the patchwork nature of the landscape and had no idea why it was covered with different collared squares, rectangles and circles. He had never seen a farm before. Tim Pool, a leftist commentarist, did a YouTube segment on it saying, “You know, if you have never even seen a farm before, maybe you shouldn’t be proposing sweeping legislation that will affect everybody.”

Since 2005 I have been living in the woods far from Tallahassee. I can leave my property with no fear of somebody stealing anything. My neighbors are awesome and I know most of them. I have never been so happy as I am now with my living arrangement.

Oblivious to the irony of his ignorance.

If I were on his thesis committee, I would demand he post an apology for making a stupid post while tripping on LSD AND post a 10 page footnoted closely argued refutation of his thesis - proving that he actually is smarter than he makes himself out to be,

or, in the likely alternative,

Boot him out of the program and let him figure out what he is going to do in life with an MA in philosophy

Well...how about that! Another progressive numb-nut ‘professor’ weighs in on a topic about which his knowledge is next to nil.

Fact is, we’ll be eatin’ after the EBT cards quit working, and the ‘hood is burning. And, we can see them coming from a long way off.
